ktvu janine de la vega just talked to police as she is talking to them right now about the search for suspects and she is going to give us an update in 30 minutes. the napa earthquake now shaking things up. tara moriarty is in napa this morning with the reason why the earthquake is forcing dozens of inmates to be transferred. >> reporter: the napa valley register is reporting 60 inmates will be transferred out of this jail so officials can assess the damage to cells in the oldest part of the jail. all of this comes amid concerns that the inmates may have to make weapons with it. the entire building was deemed structurally sound. this jail has a maximum compass ity of 264 inmates. since the quake they have been closed. the transfers are expected to begin immediately. now meanwhile president obama has declared the quake zone a major disaster area. federal funding will be loosened up for the state and local and triable governments in napa and solano counties. it's estimated the 6.0 tumbler caused $640 million in damage. live in napa i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. >>> pg&e is repl

ktvu's janine de la vega tells us why there was concern for the nearby creek and what they know so far about this fire. >> reporter: fire investigators rummaged through charred remains of this van in hopes of figuring out why it went up in flames. a neighbor took this picture showing what it looked like outside of the cedar apartments on union avenue at 4:00 a.m. this morning. >> i heard a loud explosion like a big bang. i opened the curtains and saw the flames. flames about 15 feet were coming out of the van. >> reporter: the flames spread to the honda and suv. the fire station is located several door downs. so firefighters responded quickly and were able to put out the fire in 15 minutes. >> one or two of the vehicles' gas tanks were affected by the fire. we had a fuel leak. don't know how much but the crews fairly quickly recognized the fact that there was fuel in the water from the firefight. >> reporter: firefighters shored up the drains and blocked the fuel from going into the los gatos creek. as a precaution, 40 residents were evacuated. they were let back inside after an hour.
