they also spend taxpayer money right here at the national harbor westin hotel in oxon hill. where they provided rooms $229 a night a room. the district's general fund paid for the room but these members used credit cards for valet parking at the hotel. a district spokeswoman tells us those expenses are allowed and they spent money for local hotel rooms because meetings began early and ended late. we found more than $10,000 was spent on the two most recent board retreats at national harbors, in the same county, a 25 minute drive from the district's offices. taxpayers also footed the bill when regina jacobs reserve add $230 a night hotel room at the washington d.c. hilton conference 37 minutes from the board's offices. the district told us jacobs is now seeking reimbursements from taxpayers for the group that staged the conference. >> they could have used metro, requires getting up early or late make arrangement to catch a cab. >> reporter: district policy puts no limit on the cost of meals or hotel rooms for which board members can charge taxpayers and puts an overall $7,000

in oxon hill, i'm tracee wilkins, news4. >>> we turn to weather now and some storms coming our way, doughose storms right now making their way through the center portion of the country around the mississippi river and these storms really mean business in this area. again, a line of severe storms and tornadic storms right now. numerous tornado watches and warnings extend from chicago all the way down towards new orleans, and that whole system moves our way. but unlike most systems like this, this one taking its time. a normal system would get here about 24 hours. this one in about 48 hours. and we'll track that for you. future weather timing it out for us, wednesday at 6:00, that's when it's through this area. and what we can see from that, i think, is going to be the potential for heavy rain. 1 to 2 inches is now looking likely so we could see localized flooding. winds 20 to 30 miles per hour, even before the storms get here. with the storms, gusts upwards of 40. i'll break down the timing for you on your wednesday and let you know what to expect for your day tomorrow, in just a minute.
