storm team meteorologist chuck bell is with the storm team 4 x 4.u remember when the blossoms peaked last year? >> i do. it was fairly late because march was so cold. and march temperatures are typically the ones that matter the most. so keep that in mind. it's been really cold here for the month of february. in fact this february was colder than last year. as a result it could get things off to a slow start. last week the peak occurred between april 10th and april 14th. and during that five-day stretch, we were 80 degrees or higher three out of those five days and that cooked the blossoms off the trees or they may have lasted longer. last march the reason the blossoms were so late last year because march was a cold one. we were four degrees colder than average last march and we had 12 inches of snow in the month of march last year! things have took off to a slow start. a colder february this year. look at the tidal basin. the nasty brown snow. the basin is frozen out. on the whole it's march that matters the most when peaking -- picking the peak bl

let's show you storm team 4 radar right now. you can see exactly where this snow is as it continues to make its way in through the area. temperatures have been on the cold side and look at the snow ending now back towards loudoun county faulkier county heavy snow through st. mary's county northern neck calvert county all seeing that snow. lighter snow in and around the district. you can see here that snow all around southern maryland. one more band coming through d.c. right now. then i think that's about it. there's more back to the west. this is even colder air sinking on down. most of this snow should fade as it moves through the overnight hours, maybe just a few more snow showers. here it is 6:00. there's that band. watch it moving to the south and east. by 8:00 just about everybody is out of the woods as far as snow is concerned. but then the cold really sets in. it's cold right now, but the sun is still going down so, that's why we haven't seen that ice really start to develop and we're going to see that develop in a hurry

here is the latest on storm team 4 radar. i'm tracking this activity mainly along i-95 or i should say areas east of i-95. annapolis reporting some rain down through waldorf. rain moving through culpeper and a little bit of sleet potentially mixing in there. big improvements for the afternoon. >>> taking a look 270 at old hundred road right now no major issues at this point this morning. everything looking quite good actually as you're headed southbound there. 66 just east of compton, that's actually looking pretty good as well. had earlier road work on 66 that is now out of the way. you don't 1r to worry about that anymore. beltway at central avenue everything rolling along nicely. when take you a big look at things overall, inner loop and outer loop looking pretty good. nice and green like we like to see. 95 in and out of town and bw parkway in and out of town not having any issues there at this point this morning. back in ten minutes. we'll take another look at some of the road work in prince george's county that just won'

here is the latest on storm team 4 radar.ctivity outside of the beltway for the most part. but it is favoring southern maryland northern neck fredericksburg and continuing to impact areas like baltimore. you can see waldorf starting to dry out. calvert beach looking at brainrain for another hour or two. hid day hour, clouds will start to break up. so 7:00 a.m. rain still outside of the district. east of i-95. by 9:00 a.m. just about everybody is dry. starting to see peeks of sunshine back along the i-81 corridor. by 11:00 a.m. a mix of clouds and sunshine and getting in to the afternoon hours, the winds pick up but the clouds diminish and our temperatures warm to around 60 degrees. a nice spring afternoon and evening. here is the high temperature in your neighborhood. 62 in washington. 60 in laplata. and 57 in leesburg. you'll need the sun glasses heading home from work tonight. 62 for a high temperature tomorrow. as we get into at afternoon hours tomorrow scattered showers become lightly. rain could impact the evening commut
