across the south bay sunny skies expected also for the east bay and north bay and possibly just a littlebit of patchy fog there throughout san francisco. now, we are in store for some major changes on thursday. this region of high pressure we've been talking about for the past five days is going to start moving closer. right on top of california. but the other thing is going to be dragging am a lot of hot air from the desert southwest. when you make a look at the weather maps 5,000 feet 850 millibar chart we are seeing a copious amount of summertime air. it's just ridiculous on how hot it is. so that's going to help temperatures to warm up for tomorrow, but the second component will be this dry offshore wind coming out of the east 5 to 10 miles per hour. let's take a look at how much temperatures will go up and your eyeballs are going to probably pop out of your head a little bit. san jose 89 degrees, los gatos 91 we should be around 70 degrees this time of the year and check this out, 94 degrees is likely here down into morgan hill. for the peninsula beach weather with 76 for is san fra

bay area's marianne favro is south bay where a controversial lawmaker has a controversial idea to help remedy the drought. rob, what are we talk about seeing some raindrops? >> we'll begin to see the rain which is north of the north bay slipping southward. ahead of the cold front the winds now starting to accelerate around the bay area. gusts close to 20. as we head closer to midnight notice the direction out of the south. 30 to 40 miles per hour plus. maybe up to 45 miles per hour wind gusts in some of the hilltops. that's the first stage tonight. then as we head towards midnight into tomorrow morning, that's when the rain begins to arrive. some of that rain could be intense at times. a few showers just offshore for the moment. but the real cold front here with embedded thunder still up here in the north coast. as this slides to the south, unlike systems we've seen over the last weeks, this one should bring us a half inch or possibly a little bit more than that in a few spots because if the rain comes through even overnight, you may hear some thunder. and if you get the thundershowers

sunny skies here across the south bay peninsula and east bay. numbers in the 60s now, windy in san francisco. you will be able to see gusts up to 32 miles per hour. we will keep the wind for tomorrow, but there's going to be a key change in the direction of the wind and that is going to help temperatures warm up. forecast as we head through tomorrow, start off clear and cold. 40 expected in the north bay. mid-40s to the south bay. so as far as that wind goes again, a drier and hotter wind it has been coming out of the northwest, we have been mentioning, just a shift in this coming a little bit more out of the east will be a drier and hotter wind coming in from the central valley, 10 to 20 miles per hour that should be good enough to boost our temperatures up from 2 to 5 degrees tomorrow. it is also still unfortunately going to kick off the bomb which is off the charts here. high category of pine alder, ash and juniper. if you suffer from any of those al letter xbris, it is going to be a tough day for you tomorrow. get you into the microclimate f

let's take you to the north bay, east bay, and tri-valley.er mild day here across napa and 84 degrees. oakland dropping down to 74. fremont, 82. and for the tri-valley, looks like we'll still have a round here of some overall warm weather with mid-80s. as we get you into the extended forecast, we've experienced the hottest weather in the next several days that was today. so tomorrow again, it goes down, cooler in san jose. we stay with those low 80s through sunday and as we head throughout monday and tuesday, 70s coming back to san jose. low 70s by next tuesday, and san francisco also cooling off eventually 60s here by monday and tuesday's forecast. with cooler changes a sign of the potential of some rainfall it's not a big storm system, but we're still rooking at maybe a few showers as we head throughout next wednesday's forecast. the forecast models are still going back and forth on this. so at best right now, i'd expect a weak storm, with maybe trace amounts to about 500th of an inch by next wednesday. that's the very latest. >> okay thank

south bay, east bay and tri valley. everywhere you go across the bay area over the next few days, we are really going to be adding up those rainfall totals in generous amounts. not only that, we are talking about some sierra snows. today, half a foot of snow. by tonight, top up to a foot near kingvale. monday, a dry day. by tuesday, another foot of snow is expected across the sierra. two feet of snow to top it all out. this is above 4,000 feet. even across the bay area, snow levels are going to come down to 4,000 feet. this is really great news for us. rain, snow, going to continue to add up in our deficit. at least now, we are finally going the other way. temperatures over the next few days, really chilly. only upper 50s to low 60s. by wednesday, done with this rain but can't leave this forecast without mentioning, tuesday, we actually have some thunderstorms in the forecast as the core of the system moves over and that is actually what is going to give us another additional inch of rain. all great news across the bay
