how strong is this economy? >> we're projecting 2.1% growth in real gdp for the third quarter, and a shade over 3% in the fourth quarter. but the third quarter result is held back by an inventory cycle. essentially, there are two headwinds to the economy. one is the strength of the dollar, affecting global trade, and the second is the fact that we had an unsustainably high rate of inventory buildup during the first half. and that will lead to a correction in the third quarter and beyond. >> what do you expect on the dollar? it's basically been from sort of a dollar -- i'm thinking in terms of the euro -- basically $1.04 up to $1.11 recently. are we in a trading range or do you expect a breakout one way or the other? >> i would expect that once the federal reserve raises interest rates, we would move towards the low end of that range, but not below it. markets really have anticipated the first fed hike for a long time, and so as a result, its economic impact should not be severe. >> sarah, thank you very much. sa

we have had five strong or very strong el ninos in the last 40 years. of those five one has been dry and four wet. where will the rainfall? could fall in southern california and santa barbara. depends now. when the systems roll in they will be slanted towards the south. that is the question now, if it is a strong el nino how far north will the rain go, how much could we get. 1998 and 1982 we got 200% of rainfall average. strong el nino is likely. we know about it. it will be likely for the winter and the key is that warm water engaging with the our jet stream. el nino is not a storm. el nino is a warm water -- down here. that fuels our storm. the report by no ah, we are -- noaa we are on track for a strong el nino. will it be wet? good chance. but there is a chance it will south. we will keep you posted. >>> clerk's office in kentucky continues to defy a court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. they are refusing to issue marriage licenses. she said it would violate her religious beliefs. a couple who was refused a marriage license sai
