(matt) when it's deployed, the u.s.s. sioux city will l crew of 95 on board. tonight, we continue my special series of reports, from northern wisconsin, by talking with some of those crew members as they train for the day they'll sail aboard the sioux city. << nats the crew of the lcs-11 will have two missions when they're deployed: serve their country, and represent the city of sioux city well. "they know our standards are high," said thompson. the sioux city "home." it's the second part of my special series of reports, "building the u.s.s. sioux city." over the last few weeks, we've helped you get to know todd landen. he's an iraq war veteran, who was injured in 2008. landen is a retired army first sergeant who served for 21 years. in late 2013, landen and his family moved to sioux city. most recently, landen served with the 101st airborne division, known as the "no slack ttalion". a traumatic brain ininry ended his s litary career. landen's community is helping make his house io a "home." landen's injuries required more than 20 surgeries. and, he needs some special additions to his house. "projects for patriots", a new non-profit, launched the "landen project" to help renovate landen's home to help him get around easier. "it'll be interesting," said todd landen, a retired armrm first sergrgnt. "i think with the service d d coming and a lot of the new features that all these upgrades will provide, i'm kind of getting anxious to see how much more independent i can be." the renovations will include a 440 square foot addition to the bac

the shipbuilding process and got to see the sioux city, up close. << nats "you know it's just a matter of time before the ship is over here sitting in the water," said cdr kevin ralston, u.s.s. sioux city. after years of work... nats of welding ...only weeks remain until the u.s.s. sioux city comes out of dry dock at marinette marine, in northeastern wisconsin, and into o e menominee river. that day can't come soon enough for commander kevin ralston. "we're able to get over there and walk around and see how the workers are doing, and how the work is coming along on a regular basis," ralston said. meantime, ralston, and his crew, are busy training. "we're training on the future u.s.s. milwaukee in all facets," ralston sasa. the milwaukee is identical to the sioux city. so, right now, the crew can simulatee real-life situations...
