vic lee joins us with a look at what happened today. >> reporter: well, the opening statements are nowhe prosecution has called its first witnesses this afternoon. among them two cops who describe the old chinatown murder that shimp boy is accused of ordering. both prosecutors and the defense laid out their cases before the jury and a packed courtroom. raymond cho, better known as shrimp boy sat impassively as the federal prosecutor listed the charges against him. money laundering, extortion, trafficking and drugs, counterfeit cigarettes and liquor. and two murders. he told jurors it was a gang of people committing crimes. the most important man at the center was raymond cho, the son of his underworld universe. cho is accused of ordering the murder of a rival gang member and, in 2006, the killing of allen lian. he said while pointing at cho, it was a hit, a cold-blooded murder like in the "godfather" by that man over there. cho later assumed liang's position as head of the fraternal group. the prosecution ould its case saying jurors will hear hours and hour hs of undercover tape record
