let's get a check of the roads with julie broughton. >> we're seeing some slowdowns on i-4. that's pretty typical this time of day. this is what it looks like for you. this is i-4 at conroy. the cars you see barely moving are driving westbound. we're looking at a really slow westbound drive down there by the mall at millennia. looking better for cars heading eastbound. moving up toward downtown orlando. we've been following the breaking news out of osceola thacker avenue at osceola parkway has part of the intersection blocked near the loop in kissimmee. if you're heading to that area, you may still encounter delays as fire/rescue is still out there cleaning up that scene. i-4 westbound you're in pretty good shape from lake mary boulevard down to colonial. it takes 18 minutes, only about four minutes slower than normal. if you're waiting for someone coming home on i-4 eastbound from the turnpike up to state road 408, that will take eight minutes. >> thank you, julie. the first-ever jetblue flight from new york's j.f.k. to daytona beach landed today. >> here's a crazy thing, t

. >> time now to see how traffic let's get a check on the roads with julie broughton. >> we're seeing some slowdowns. this is what's happening for you. this is i-4 at kirkman. the cars moving away from me are heading eastbound. we were watching a crash earlier. you can see a police officer out there causing some slowdowns. do keep in mind we're talking about a slow go on i-4 eastbound there through the attractions area. here's a look at the map for you. this gives us a better idea of actual speeds. this goes closer from i-4 eastbound toward the turnpike. you're seeing things pretty slow. once you get past the turnpike, it picks up a little while and slows down again as you approach state road 408. we're keeping an eye also on what's happening in seminole county as we're hearing reports of a crash on sanford on w.p. ball boulevard as you approach i-4. you may see slowdowns there. i-4 westbound slowing down from seminole county to the lake mary boulevard exit to colonial, which takes 21 minutes. road 408 takes 22 minutes. >> the powerball jackpot has grown yet again, after no one drew t

. >> time to get a check on the roads right now with julie broughton. you're tracking a pretty bad one on the 408, right? >> we're looking at big slowdowns affecting drivers on the 408 and hiawassee. this is a multi-vehicle crash on the 408 westbound. this is causing delays. traffic is backed up for about three miles. you can see the cars barely getting by there in the extreme right lane. expect slowdowns or if you have to head to the area, go ahead and use state road 50 as an alternate. there's the crash. you can see cars going as slow as 18 miles per hour westbound on 408 approaching that crash. that will likely be there for a while. also, in that same area, a crash on mercy drive at old winter garden road could cause you some for i-4, we're seeing slowdowns as we're heading out, which is typical this time of day. i-4 westbound is in good shape, heading from seminole county down to downtown orlando or waiting for someone to get home. it's coming from lake mary, taking the colonial exit. that's four minutes slower than normal. it takes 18 minutes. the

news 6 anchor julie broughton joins us with the big drive update. >> certainly was a rough morning. all that rain combined with construction did mean for a slow go for a lot of drivers this morning. that means project managers are looking for ways to make sure some of this doesn't happen with the next round of storms. >> heavy rain this morning meant big slowdowns on i-4 near parr. a jackknifed semi blocked eastbound lanes shortly before noon. then road rangers closed two lanes because of standing water. >> we had flooding in the eastbound lanes of i-4 near parr street that was caused by a combination of heavy rains and the construction activities we had going on in the area. thankfully no one was hurt in the incident. there was, i believe, only one water. along this stretch of the big drive. bridgework continues at princeton as crews continue to unload support beams. you can see where the roads will be expanded as the interstate is widened. expect to see a lot more workers and workers over the next few months. >> we'll have 400 and 600 new workers coming on this job. this is a desi

let's get a check of the roads with julie broughton. >> a lot of folks heading home this friday afternoon. this is what it looks like on i-4. no major issues out there. that's good news. this is i-4 at church street. the cars you see moving away from you, those are heading eastbound. westbound traffic moving along pretty nicely out there. but traffic is thick at times through the downtown area. east orange county we're talking about a car crash at university and dean road which could cause a few delays right in that area. orange county fire/rescue is working that crash. as we take you in a little bit area, notice the colors there on the map. it shows us how well traffic is flowing. as you're coming along on i-4 eastbound looking pretty good on the turnpike as you head up around state road 408, things begin to slow down. average speeds are around 20 miles per hour. it stays slow through the winter park area and picks up in the maitland area. i-4 down to the attractions approaching the turnpike seeing slowdowns with the average speed there about 26 miles per hour. here are your drive times

. >> time to get a check on the roads with julie broughton. >> we're still watching slowdowns, especially for folks heading out in east orange county. here's how it looks as we go in closer for you. this is state road 50. we're still getting reports of delays of a car crash on state road 50 at goldenrod road. the best bet is to take forsyth road or econtrail because we're still seeing delays there. i-4 at the state road 408 ramp. as they continue further eastbound, it's stop and go. westbound traffic is rather slow, getting on the ramp there. we're in that time of day where things are just a little bit slow out there. we need to take it easy because the roadways are still wet and some of you are still dealing with some rain. the drive times, i-4 westbound from seminole county from lake mary boulevard to colonial is six minutes slower than normal, taking you 20 minutes. a slow go eastbound from the turnpike up to state road 408, an 8-minute ride. >> several ucf students are in tallahassee this week as they work to get results for chloe's law. >> they're hoping the bill gains momentum in th

. >> now it's time to get a check on the roads with julie broughton. >> we're not dealing with any major issues out there right now, but it's a slow drive on all the major roadways and folks are heading out to start their weekend. this is i-4 at princeton. the cars moving away from me are driving eastbound. the cars moving slowly toward me, that's westbound traffic there moving through the college park, the ivan ho area. a little slow through that area. it's also slow westbound through the downtown area. taking you down toward the attractions, if you're heading to disney tonight, expect a slow ride down through lake buena vista. here are your drive times. >> if you drive on aloma avenue or cimarron boulevard in orange county every day. we have a construction alert you want to know about. fdot announced today there will be nightly closures at the intersection of aloma and cimarron in winter park for the next week. the closures start at 8 in the morning, starting this sunday and going until friday, february 5th. drivers should follow the detour signs posted along aloma and cimarron to get

julie broughton joins us with more on a big drive update. >> as we approach the one-year mark of the i-4 ultimate project, work is picking up along the entire 21-mile stretch of the big drive. for drivers in the downtown area, you may need to pay extra attention to where you park in the next few weeks. >> again, a lot of the work in the downtown area is really starting to intensify. >> after a slow couple of weeks during the holidays, work on the i-4 ultimate project is ramping up. >> as far as washington, all the parking area, underneath downtown. >> with the focus shifting on the stretch of interstate that runs through the downtown area. going on here, you may run into closures in these lots under i-4. >> the parking row that you may have used for the last five years, you may come in on a monday and that individual row is closed. it is temporary. the row will open back up. >> crews are closing individual rows in the robinson lot and the city lot 10 and the city lot north. the entire lots are not closing, just some roads for a week at a time. we can also expect daytime closures of c

. >> and i'm julie broughton. ginger has the night off. coming up at 7:00, the snow has stopped falling and the snow has moved out. but our top story right now, a lawsuit is filed to stop orlando city leaders from selling a plot of land to orlando city soccer. >> that was land was supposed to be the home of the team's new stadium. but some say the sale is illegal. here's more from city hall with the latest. >> we were the ones that actually showed this lawsuit to mayor buddy dyer's office in the first place. they say at first glance, it doesn't look like they violated any statutes. but the people who filed it say they have. >> news 6 was the only station at the orange county courthouse this afternoon as this lawsuit was filed to stop the sale of land to orlando city soccer. the city of orlando wants to sell this nearly 12 acres of land that will house the new soccer stadium to the team. the price tag, just more than $2 million. but a group of paramour area businesses and community groups claim it is not legal. orlando is violating the law.

. >> i'm julie broughton. ginger gadsden is off. let's get straight over to news 6 reporter shaun chaiyabhat. he just finished watching the entire video into the newsroom. >> tonight we're getting the very first look at this dramatic it happened a little over a week ago on january 16th in orlando. but first, let's take a look at store security video. officers make a traffic stop on a stolen white charger at 5100 north lane. that's when the three suspects in the car tried to get away. it appears at one point officers tried to break the window but just does not stop the suspects. the car backs up and then tries to take off and here's what happens next from a different angle. one officer opens fire. this is body cam video from officer jonathan mills. you can hear them warn the driver and then the gunshots when the car comes right at him. >> police! park. put it in park! >> now, the officer shot the laymans who crashed into a vacant home but survived. he now faces felony charges for aggravated assault on an officer with a car. the two o
