we are seeing some improvement, but we begin with meteorologist elizabeth gardner to skip us the big picture. >> we are still looking at precipitation out there, certainly not as heavy as it was earlier but it is there and it is certainly bringing some problems to people still. it is all going to, you know, improve, went to get temperatures a little warmer. but still in the upper 20s right now. we are seeing heavier precipitation from durham up i- 85 up into virginia. heading eastward it tapers off. about the time you get to roanoke rapids, we head back down, and white another view, another band getting ready to head into moore county. we continue to have this line, marching right along this line, almost along highway 1 court or. -- corridor. we are still seeing freezing rain. have not had reports of sleet but we are still looking at precipitation falling. here is 8:30. the virginia line. a lot of that has lifted northward. but we continue to see patchy precipitation. of course, up until say 1:00 or 2:00 it's going to be freezing rain. after that, we should start to see it falling as

let's get to elizabeth gardner. >> we're talking about potential for some snow in some spots. it may be a wintery mix mainly south of the triangle area. that's setting the stage for cold temperature we saw yesterday, today, and tonight. it could stick quickly. notice the winds blowing over downtown roxboro right now. it is cold but feels even colder. temperatures are in the mid 30s. 35 in raleigh. 31 in south hill. 32 in roxboro. and 37 in fayetteville. but most of us are feeling more like mid 20s because of the wind chill. temperatures just stay cold. our winter weather issues will come really in three parts over the next few days. number one, tomorrow. wintery precipitation. number two, the brutally cold temperatures that we're going to see for the weekend. number three, a system that comes in on monday. 22. our normal low temperatures are in the mid and even upper 30s in some spots. saturday morning, 15. dangerously cold. and monday morning it starts off cold as well. in terms of how much precipitation we may see tomorrow, snow-wise our southern just see about a trace, mayb

elizabeth gardner. >> this morning, we are not seeing severe weather, we haven't yet. for the next several hours, not going to be a threat. not that you won't have thunderstorms that produce rain, and gusty winds, it won't hit severe criteria until we warm this atmosphere up. mainly in the 50s, starting to see the warmer air edge in to the southern part of the viewing area, when it sweeps in to the region, we move in to the air mass. that's likely mid to late morning in to the afternoon. we have patchy heavier rain the one cell moving northward, again, we had lightning with these thunderstorm. moving very, very fast, when we get to the point we will be concerned about the severe thunderstorms and tornados, we will have a line with forming across the triad, across the viewing area. more concerned about that as we get clos to lunchtime. ahead of that, you will run in to rain in places and potential for thunderstorms, too. we will be watching out for that. let's go back and take a look at the radar picture on the other system. see what is going on there. looping that rada
