this is called the grape leaves diana rocco, it's formally the sunrise diner. we're told it opened up recently here on the 1300 block of edgemont in chester. it's right near widener university. this fire broke out around 3 a.m. when fire crews arrived they saw flames on the exterior of the diner and they soon realized it was up in the roof area. at that point the day's inn which is right next door had not been evacuated but once the chief saw that there was smoke going into the hotel, he made the call to evacuate the guests. he said that took about 15 to 20 minutes. they did pull the fire alarms and 33 went from roo they went o room to make sure everybody was outside. guests say it was smoky. >> i heard the alarm go off. i smelled smoke i came down to ask what was wrong and they said there was a fire in the diner i guess and i ran back upstairs and got my friend and then we been sitting down here ever since. >> reporter: well, within the last 45 minutes or so the guests have been allowed back inside. the chief says most of the damage is to the dining facility.
