tops and bottoms. just thought i would create this table to put this in context. picture the 2000 peak. the sox peaked on the 14 tl, the s&p about nine, ten days later. the sox led, stopped going up first. at the bottom, in '02, the same phenomenon. just two days later, they led, bottomed first. in '07 in the peak, a lead time. think about in the '09. they bottomed in '08. the market didn't bottom until '09. in 2011. this time, the semis went on. and they topped actually on june 1st. breaking this sort of almost perfect trend. but what i'm seeing in terms of the actual structure of the semi index itself is something not good. so we know it is a leading indicator. and here's some of those inflection points. in '07, here's the top. right? which happens in the semis went down first, but the s&p kept going. same thing here. the top, the semis go down, the s&p kept going. what we're having is the same thing, the general stall in deterioration. we think that's a problem. so we're going to do a trade on intel

v bottoms are very rare. but if you do get one, you still get corrections typically.if this symmetry were to persist, what i think one can expect is, a lot of backing and filling, or that would be to mirror this. or some backing away. to mirror this. now, if that were to happen, i think a reasonable price objective is come down to the 100-day moving average. so i'm thinking into the low 40s, and we're here at 48, 49. and it's not mysterious that it stopped at 50 and started to struggle. okay. let's move on to something that is a little unusual. over the weekend, exxon mobil, which i have here compared to the entire s&p 500 energy sector, orange, the entire s&p 500 sector equal weighted, and then all energy stocks in the russell 3000. i think what's important is these have all dipped. they're actually down on the month. yet exxon has just continued on its own. another way to juxtapose this. exxon versus major other integratives. you've got dp, royal dutch, all dipping or correcting in some way. exxon just unto itself. to me this is the face of fear. getting into a trad

the dollar may have bottomed and that may have factored. energy financial materials were weak today. you know what the market leaders are. energy financials and materials this quarter and a very specific reap. those are cyclical stocks. very specific reasons why cyclicals have done well this quarter. let me show you the q2 trade, the trade everybody is doing. you have the weaker dollar and combine it with a stable china and you combine that with oil bottom and you put up the next full screen and have an accommodative fed and what you got is buy cyclicals, energies and industrials and that's exactly what everybody has been doing. today, things are just a little bit under strain with this whole thesis. first off, everybody has been buying the cyclicals like crazy so they are overbought. 21, 22 times forward. that's a problem. second problem, china's data has been choppy. overnight we saw the manufacturing data weak. it's been very hard to read and then you throw in the dollar reversings, and you've got a little reversal of trend. here's the b
