>> reporter: yes, good this morning at the brigantine beach, let me put this right over here, we're good, we're good. this going to talk beach safety. good morning. >> how are you guys doing? >> doing great this morning, i'm loose now, the heart is pumping. so it will be a hot weekend. it will be full beach. what does that mean for you guys? >> that just means a lot of crowds, a lot of people in the water, water has been beautiful, water has been 78 degrees yesterday. so, just look for, you know, big crowds, have a great weekend out here. >> talk to us a little bit about beach safety. we see some of the lifeguards going out here, rescue for everyone back at home, but talk to us about what it is they do and what it is you do? >> our guards are basically in charge of 4 miles of beach. and we have stations, you know, positioned around the islands. basically their job is to keep everyone safe. they go up and down with the water, keep close to the water, any situation that happens like practicing right now, the guards have tools to go out there, usually have a can, someone will go out and flo

beaches, you know, south would follow suit. because you want to get these kids ready to become actual lifeguards. why not? >> that's correct. it is my hope from brigantinecape may that more and more beach patrols would get involved with this. and hopefully even on the south beaches, we can get a lit competition going on. i mean, we pull kids right now, most of the kids are local kids, but we pull them from as far west as mays landing, we even just neighboring towns sending kids like atlantic city, we have couple of kids from atlantic city even a kid from ocean city in our program this year. >> you guys are full already this year, already into it, but if parents want more information, for future reference, where can they go? >> just contact our beach patrol headquarters. we will give them any information they need. we already have the dates set for next year. so, you know, it is basically the same time frame each year. month of july. we do three days a week, two and a half hours a day, and these kids work hard. they keep coming back for more. >> well, i am a little bit too old 12 to 15, little out of my range, but maybe one day i'll become a lifeguard. i

off brigantine beach a brief water spout developed. barrington trees down on cars as well.some wires down create something power outages but now yes we return to quiet conditions. we did pick up much needed rainfall. close to an inch in haddon heights along with all that hail, quarter size in its size and norristown about a half inch of rainfall same case in clementon about a half inch. it did cool us off from the extreme heat. 97 degrees the high temperature and we were just shy of records all across the delaware valley. 96 in allentown and 95 in atlantic city. do have this heat advisory that kicks back in across the delaware valley as we head into monday but an excessive heat warning remains in effect for philadelphia and and along the i-95 corridor through 6 o'clock in the evening on monday as, yes, our hottest day is yet to come. and i'll let you know how hot it will feel on monday if you want to know coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> the next vice president, my friend, senator tim kaine. >> well, just one day after announcing her vice presidential pick via soci

it's about to get heavier around atlantic city and brigantine and long beach island.e of that heavier rain coming down the atlantic city expressway and galloway township. this shows where the heaviest rain has been. radar estimates, so the brighter the colors, the more rain has fallen. philly southward, especially delaware and south jersey, that's over two inches of rain. some places up to four inches of rain. so far, guess what, more coming tonight. and especially in delaware and south jersey. we don't need any more of this. the atmosphere is extremely moist. has tremendous amounts of moisture. unusual amounts of moisture. for anytime of year. so when these storms come in, they can produce tremendous amounts of rain. here in the middle of the night, there's one going through allentown. as we go into tomorrow morning, we could see some for the morning rush. we may actually see things quiet down in the middle of the day, and into the afternoon. i don't expect much of rain in the afternoon tomorrow, or tomorrow night. but saturday, it starts building up again. and some

it is raining around brigantine, beach haven, long beach. so ocean county that part of the jersey shore is getting the abrupt of this rain. the southern part around wildwood it is not raining right now. little rain around the delaware beaches, this morning but we're seeing timely the beginning of the end of this warm front. then high pressure takes over and pumps in that hot and humid air which will be with us, through the day, and pretty much rest of the week. stormy and then steamy is her forecast for today, 75 is the current temperature. before the storms hit it was 80 at 4:00 a.m. in philadelphia dew point is our measure of moisture. it is already very soupy this dover, delaware. 78 degrees dew point. that is oppressive. we are heading up with 72 degrees our dew point in philadelphia a. to take's high temperature record is 96 degrees setback in 1999. we are forecasting 98 for today and 90's for tomorrow and wednesday and for thursday and friday with pop up thunderstorms. that is with the cold front that will cool us down to the upper 80'

area of showers and storms earlier and then this little shower it is up and now in brigantine moving toward long beach island. north of atlantic city. so continuing to push north, it is one area of rain that has passed on by. that is about the only activity we are seeing right now, we will see a little more over next few hours. just these showers, don't think it is all that heavy but cloud are filling in. more moisture pulled up from the south. one or two showers in delaware by 11:00, this could be after everything happens there in wildwood. so the showers will move through, then we will go to the north and western suburbs as we get stronger storms moving through the north and western suburbs and right through philadelphia between five and 8:00 o'clock tonight. we will be clearing out after 11:00 o'clock. buddy is down the shore, it is muggy, 70 degrees. i know, bit of the trouble there, passing showers but we are looking at 70 degrees with the dew point of 66 degrees. heading for 80's. traffic this morning bob kelly is on his way to wildwood, hopefully rain holds off. we have issues this morning. is

beach haven. heads up brigantine down into atlantic city as well as this cell is moving your way from the north andest. philadelphia we're about to get a break from the rainfall, just a little bit of light rain lingering but now the heavier rain has moved into some of our jersey suburbs. still seeing moderate rain in haddonfield. severe thunderstorm warning still in effect until 7 o'clock for parts of delaware. that left lane is moving in over the state line right now. middleton seeing nearly continuous lightning. stay well far away from this cell. it will move towards i smyrna. overnight an evening thunderstorm isolated in nature but it could be on the stronger even severe side. otherwise we clear out very warm only falling back to 75 degrees and then tomorrow still very hot. 95 degrees, mostly sunny but not as humid. we'll get a break from the humidity tomorrow but he with certainly didn't get a break today. we topped at 96 degrees in philadelphia. 98 in reading. even down the shore high temperature soaring up into the middle 90's but where we see that cooler air, that is compliments of the rain
