murphy. >>> good afternoon, i'm alicia vitarelli the big story on "action news" is hermine's next move. the storm will soon be pushing off the atlantic coast and has a chance of affecting our region during the labor day weekend. and the florida panhandle took the first beating, it brought strong winds and heavy rain and it could head here next, and tropical storm warnings are in effect for the new jersey and delaware coastlines. jeanette reyes is at the shore where people are hoping for the best. we begin with melissa magee with an update from the national hurricane center. >> reporter: that is right. as we head into the holiday weekend. here is the latest with hermine. it did make landfall as a hurricane 1. it has weakened over land now, currently over georgia, you can see the moisture coming in from the atlantic and the heavy rain from georgia up to the carolinas, this will continue to travel to the north and east as we go through the rest of today and tonight. we have tropical storm watches and warnings posted up and down the eastern coast. for the warnings they extend from savannah,

murphy. >>> good afternoon rick and sara are off. i'm alicia vitarelli in the news this noon a pregnant woman is among those hurt during an early morning shooting in delaware. and a statue stolen from a local church is going back where it belongs. we'll tell you where it was recovered. >>> but the big story on "action news" is the tropical storm hermine and the uncertain shadow it is casting on our holiday weekend. and the storm is getting closer to the florida gulf coast and people are bracing for landfall. following all of the action in its path is meteorologist, david murphy, with more on that, and the soggy conditions out here today. >> reporter: alicia, a lot of uncertainly with the track for hermine. this morning we had showers on and off, and now the mid-day lull with rain just to the south of cape may and some in baltimore that may spread east toward delaware over the next hour or so. and some precipitation in northern montgomery county and north buck county out of southern lehigh and eastern berks county, east of reading. that is what

murphy. hi, karen. >> reporter: hi, alicia, as you look at the image you can see the size of hermine barely moving at 6 miles per hour. look how far it is from our coastline, about 300 miles off the coast of atlantic city and delaware. even though it is projected to make a jog toward the west, it's far enough out the impact that we'll see are minimal even along the coastline. here's what to expect. we'll continue to see the waves that erupt, 8 to 12-foot waves, dangerous rip currents that will continue for the next couple of days. be careful and stay out of the water. some beach erosion, we're seeing some. some of the winds are pulling out of the north as owe posted to the northeasterly. that will improve conditions there. minor coastal flooding. we have another high tide between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. where we'll see minor coastal flooding tonight. as we look at the satellite image you can see the clouds that hermine is pulling along the coast. it's almost a wall, look at the cloud cover north and west of the city. northern montgomery and bucks county, you're looking sunny. it depends on where you're
