abc news was in union city as they came together with the 17-year-old at james logan high where he was a linebacker and running back on the football team. around 1:30 he was driving on 880 near west a street when he crashed into a pick up truck. two passengers in the car and two people in the truck went to the hospital. his friends and teammates are heart broken by the sudden loss. >> he was the type of player who would run through the wall for his teammates and his brothers and coaches. he was the one going and helping kid. not only in football, but off the field in class and saw -- society. he was the glue in our family that kept us going. >> the chp is still investigating the cause of the crash. >>> the highway patrol and oakland police are investigating a freeway crash and gunshots fired in about the same area. sergio was at the scene for most of the evening. certainly crow? >> -- sergio. >> they are not saying the shots fired at that crash on the freeway are somehow connected to the r -- to the crash that happened before. >> the three-car crash happened before 5:00 p.m. >> the sil

the vigil just started/is wrapping up/is growing here in front of james logan high school. it's hard for any parent to imagine having to lay their child to rest. let me tell you about the ioramo family. they're a big, polynesian family. they're the kind of people who, even when they come together to mourn the loss of junior, they offer you food at their home. and this family, is what junior was all about. his sister danielle spoke to me on behalf of the whole family. they gathered together by the dozens today. there are more family members coming in from l-a, maybe even some from utah.to remember junior. he would have turned 17 in just a couple weeks, and he was just starting his junior year in high school. danielle says junior was quite the character, and always the life of the party.
