our meteorologist, rob mayeda is here. >> if you had a 14-day forecast for the area, you would thinkthe trend is going to continue. we do have a short-term cooldown which kicked in today. you see the reason why there. we have low clouds spilling over the hills. look at the temperatures. much nicer. the ocean ac is back. 67 degrees right now. patchy low clouds. livermore at this hour yesterday was close to 100 degrees. today 86 degrees. not as hot, but still near 90 out by brentwood. check out the spread of micro climates around the east bay. 60s in oakland and still 89. san jose right now, you've got mostly clear skies, 80 degrees, which is right on par with average temperatures for this time of year. there you see san francisco, the low clouds have made a comeback. so the wind a big part of the story. you probably noticed it last night. the sea breeze picking up, and during the day tomorrow, those winds are going to be very gusty. in fact, maybe twice as strong in some spots along the coastal hills, and that presents a problem from wednesday into thursday, around the fire. big sur a

meteorologist rob mayeda has the breakdown. >> we've been seeing surges in activity. the rooftop camera from san jose state meteorology shows you the smoke fanning out. the temperatures have come down. 78 degrees along the fire lines. moving forward through mid-afternoon hilltop temperatures till in the 80s. but down quite a bit from yesterday. good news for humidity as you see the band of green showing up, heading through this afternoon into the morning as the marine layer deepens up, we'll see decreasing humidities, decreasing temperatures and wind could be an issue. the winds have not been too gusty of late as we head through the afternoon and the onshore winds pick up we could see wind speeds picking up. the onshore breeze means the temperatures have cooled considerably. almost 20 degrees cooler in a few spots than the same time yesterday. the cooling trend right now that's going to have our temperatures in the 50s, 60s and 70s across the bay area could lead us into showers in the weekend, possibly the first rain of fall ahead in the 7-day forecast. when that will

. >>> let's turn to meteorologist rob mayeda with an update on how the weather conditions are really making this a very difficult firefight for firefighters. rob, the plume of smoke was so dramatic too. >> we were seeing the winds aloft pushing the smoke to the south and east. the view around the peninsula or from san jose, you can't miss the smoke plume. maybe not climbing as tall vertically as yesterday when we saw the pyrocumulus cloud develop, the thunderstorm like structure powering up and that particular wildfire fueling itself with its own winds. right now temperatures in the 80s, humidity only 16%. temperatures going through the afternoon in the 90s. you have the combination of hot temperatures there, very dry conditions, and the winds may try to pick up a little bit more out of the northwest as we go through the day today. notice the temperatures here in red. those are 90s in the hilltops. during the next 24 hours, even as the marine air comes back, at that elevation where the loma fire is burning, likely staying above the cooler marine air. humidity levels, while they'll im
