out of san francisco, kate larson is live after a really big fire at 23rd and an sau, kate? >> reporter: a really big fire and a really dangerous fire. we are on 23rd between gary anzi. the fire started in the top attic unit at 1:45 this morning and spread to the apartment building on the right and on the left. let's look at cell phone video we got sent to us from a viewer. you can see the huge flames that made the job for firefighters extremely different when they showed up. 15 minutes later, by 2:00 a.m., it's a three-alarm fire, and dozens of fire trucks and other fire apparatus. unfortunately, three people were injured and two have burns and one declined to be taken to the hospital, and another person taken to the hospital with another medical condition and we do not know their specific conditions and how they are doing at this time. the fire department tells me it was a very dangerous situation with hot flames shooting out of the roof and they wanted to protect the close-by apartments and other buildings next door since the wind was blowing to the north. we did speak to

kate larson is live in selma next to the tallest building in the west. hey, kate. >> reporter: hey there, reggie. a lot of people worked on the salings force tower for years, construction workers who worked here 24 hours a day trying to get the building complete, and today is a big milestone because it marks the end of these structural phase of the construction. right now, there's a big event going on, so for the ceo here as well as mayor ed lee, but let's go ahead and take a look at this. it's pretty cool. today people are actually signing the final steel beam which will be installed today weather permitting. the tower has been in the works for a decade and under construction for four years. it's not yet complete, but nevertheless, it's been dominating san francisco's skyline for quite some time, and until the tower came along, the pyramid was the tallest structure in the city for 43 years, but now sales force 6 is 1-story building here at 1st and mission took the record. >> the steel's been finished, concrete's finished, the skin of the building is comi

kate larson is in napa where we expect to get an update in just a little bit. >> reporter: there mayave been an argument between the suspect and a neighbor when the shooting happened yesterday around 2:00, 2:30 in the afternoon, and they are investigating. let's look at video from the scene in this neighborhood. a quiet neighborhood. we were there earlier this morning and the shooting happened near bueno street and linda vista avenue. the suspect's car, silver, just riddled with bullet holes. multiple people called 911 saying somebody was open firing in the neighborhood and when they got there, they saw the suspect backing out of the driveway in the silver car, and the suspect allegedly fired at the officers and that's when the officers and the deputies fired back triggering the shoot-out. >> we heard a bunch of gunfire, and it sounded like there was two shots that came from a different firearm, and all of a different firearm, and all of a sudden we heard, >> after the shoot-out the suspect drove his car into a tree and he was killed, and nobody else was seriously injured in the neig

kate larson has been watching this all morning long and is at 23rd and anza. kate?n francisco fire department says hoarding conditions in this yellow house where the fire started contributed to how big and hot and intense those flames got. let's go ahead and take a look at the cell phone video and pictures from neighbors. there are three units in the house itself and another in the back. three people injured in this fire that spread to the two neighboring apartment buildings. it started at about 1:45 this morning. almost 100 firefighters on scene. three injured and two taken to the hospital and at least ten more people don't have a place to stay right now, or at least they can't go home. i did speak to the supervisor who lives in the neighborhood and she came out to check on the fire victims and says that fires are a real concern in the richmond district because of how old the houses are. >> so the richmond district has many of these homes, wood-framed, very old and a lot of them have the original wiring and also the homes are very close to each other here in the ri

kate larson is there. kate, what is happening now? >> reporter: well, reggie, i actually just spoke to one of the other renters that lives in the house and i will step out of the way and it started in the yellow house and there are three different units in there, and she tells me around 1:45 this morning a neighbor knocked on her door and when she opened it there was smoke filling the building, and she and the firefighters tell me it started in the top floor, the attic space. you can see how big and high and just by looking at it how hot these flames got. the neighbor tells me her upstairs neighbor says a candlelit curtains on fire. i did speak to the fire department about injuries. three people injured and two taken to the hospital, and one with an unknown medical condition and one with burns and the one that did not go to the hospital also had burns. and the woman that lives in the middle unit, she said she woke up to knocks on the door from her neighbor, and she realized she needed to get out quickly. >> when i open the door i saw

this is an effort spearheaded by independent scholar and tubman buygrapher kate clifford larson. i also welcome the addition of the harriet tubman national historical park in auburn, new york. on the side of the charity home she found a park established in a signing ceremony on the tenth of january, tweft. and it's especially gratifying to be able to give three cheers over a newly discovered pore trait of tubman. what experts agree is perhaps the earliest known photograph of her. it will be auctioned off at swan galleries in manhattan on the 30th of march. the portrait was not discovered in a dumpster, but it was in a jumbo sale on the streets of new york when someone strold by and started picking through the pictures, i know some of you out there do that. i know you're looking for treasure. and over 30 years ago this souvenir album was purchased. and those of us addicted to searching for valuables, i think should share in this celebration of a treasure finally coming to light. this is a newly discovered portrait of harriet tubman. so 2016 i think was a banner year as we so 2016
