today the family of lieutenant richard collins, iii is laying their son to rest. good afternoon, and thank you for joining us, i'm andrea roane. the young man with the promising future was to graduate from bowie state university on tuesday before he was fatally stabbed nearly a week ago. >> there's a sense of overwhelming grief by just about everyone here today. we've watched as loved ones, family, friends, and even strangers broke down into tears when they went to go view the body of richard collins, iii. take a look at this video from inside of the funeral service. flowers and pictures surrounded collins who is dressed in his army uniform. he had just been commissioned as a second lieutenant just days before he was stabbed in an unprovoked attack at the univty stop within friends friends minding his own business when the suspect sean urbanski walked up and stabbed him in the chest. police have reason to believe this may have been a hate crime, that collins was killed because he was black. now today he's being remembered for the smart, kind, driven and caring per
