this is a very serious accident here on the inner loop of the beltway near kenilworth avenue. i can tell you driving up here the backup begins just about a mile before you reach the kenilworth avenue exit. they were for quite some time -- all lanes were blocked. however, they were letting one lane get by and then diverting all of the traffic onto exit 24 which is the greenbelt metro. clearly involving a tractor-trailer. this is a bit of a mess out here hm you can see it pretty banged up, the front end just kind of crushed like tinfoil. they have just opened up two lanes, so two lanes now to the left getting by. again, this i beltway near kenilworth avenue right by the greenbelt metro station. and we are right now not t-, maryland state hasn't confirmed whether there are other vehicles involved. we were hearing for quite some time about maybe two cars also involved and we do know no serious injuries so that is the good news. but now at this time you have two lanes getting by to the left just before you reach the kenilworth avenue. so, big, big heads up as you head out this morni

now to this story on the beltway and a rough start to the work week. the beltway shut down this for hours because of two different accidents. >> take a look over here, you can see the inner loop of the beltway in alexandria reopened after being closed for four thes at the height of monday morning commute. accidents taking place at 5:15 a.m. between the eisenhower connector and south van dorn street. according to virginia state police, there were two accidents, onenv a pedestrian was struck. that's the fatality in the accident. seven mile backup at one point went into prince george's county. this very busy roadway became a parking lot. some people were getting out of their cars, walking around, playing frisbee, detailing their vehicles. there were extensive delays. a lot of people dealing with a very frustrating morning commute. timing is everything. i was supposed to leave last night. i am sorry for the people involved. this is what it is. we have to deal with it. when you saw the emergency and thengoing down heard word there was a for talladega. >> no

on the update the ride top stretch of the beltway in 10 minutes. adrianna: arlington police trying to figure out what led to a stabbing on columbia pike. this happened about two blocks off of route 27. sam sweeney is at the live desk and we hear the victim fought back. sam: that is what arlington county police are telling us. the suspect is still on the loose but might be hurt because the victim fought back. this is the scene on columbia pike just after 3:00 hospital and arlington police are checking out area hospitals to see if the suspect is there. police did recover a weapon. they were on scene until about 5:00 this morning so evidence teams could take pictures of the scene and the weapons. the good news is the victim is expected to survive. more breaking news, abc seven the scene of a car fire in prince george's county and fire crews telling us this is no accident. this happening in an industrial park on kenilworth avenue. they think the fire was intentionally set. this area is a notorious area for people to dump cars. fortunately, no one was hu
