the museum is the nation's museum for the history of world war i. it is a global museum. we talk about all of the belligerents that were involved in world war i. it is not just about the united states during the war, but everything from the summer of 1914 to the peace treaty of june 1919. our collection is the most comprehensive collection of world war i materials in the world. it is not the largest, but it is comprehensive in that we do deal with all nations that were involved in the war. we're not just centric to the country that we're located in. in the museum when you're going through the exhibitions you see about 10% of the museum collection at any one time. the rest we use for research, for references, for loans to other institutions, and just to make sure that we have an encyclopedic collection of the war. when we are teaching about the history of it we want to cover everything from point a to point z. where i'm standing right now is in front of a wall that depicts the various shoulder sleeve insignia worn by the american expeditionary forces in world war i. these

just yesterday, ivanka trump and i hosted a summer reading event at the smithsonian's national museum of american history where the focus was on getting young girls age 6 to 10 excited about learning science, technology, engineering, and math. it was fun to see their eyes light up as they got to explore, create, and experiment in a collaborative environment. today's and tomorrow's economy require students prepared for s.t.e.m. careers. that's why we decided to use the president's second quarter salary to host a s.t.e.m. focused camp for students at the department of education. we want to encourage as many children as possible to explore s.t.e.m. fields in the hope that many develop a passion for these fields. we look forward to this exciting endeavor, and i thank president trump again for this generation gift. thanks.

it's an exhibit called high at the national building museum in washington and it's creating a lot of it's part of the art installation series. fox's steve rap port takes us inside. a new interactive art installation dubbed the live is taking over the great haul of the national building museum in washington, d.c. standing more than 60 feet tall, the exhibit is part of the museum's annual block party series. we wanted to go high. we wanted to make something that had some monumentality, but at the same time certain intimacy and so we did it. it's the tallest structure that's ever been done inside. it's made from 2500 interlocking cardboard cylinders. the two painted inside are paint ed silver and ma gent a. the ma gent a collar was back in january. it connects to current events and things like the women's march where the ma general that color flooded through the capital and it was just so expiring to see everyone coming together in democracy and having a voice. inside the soring exhibit visitors can interact with multiple acoustic chimes. we're kind of playing within the context of the
