we are on white oak drive. in the last couple of minutes we stopped seeing the swirl of embers in the air. it did get a little cooler. the fire seems to have calmed down a little bit. it is still on the move. by 1 am, santa rosa police tweeted the fire move from annadel state park into white oak and was coming close to homes on white oak drive. police say this is the city line so the fire is in the city of santa rosa. people were told to evacuate immediately. firefighters are here from sevastopol that are guarding homes on white oak drive. the good news is the wind is very low and is predicted to stay low today. they say fire travels faster up to but this fire is not needed by the wind. it's spreading through the dry fuel on the ground. it's not moving as fast as it would have yesterday with the wind we were heavy. santa rosa has imposed a curfew in mandatory evacuation from 6:45 pm yesterday until 7:15 am this morning. 5000 have evacuated into 24 different shelters. one center that opened this morning is that

we are on white oak drive in the oakmont neighborhood. if you look behind me, you can see there is a wildfire still burning out of control. this is coming down from the and adele state park -- annandale state park. it is currently threatening yet another neighborhood. this is the biggest threat firefighters are dealing with this morning. the problem is, they still do not have enough personnel to try to get in here and put a line around this fire and stop any forward progress. they are relying on mother nature this morning. there were a couple of firefighters i spoke with a few minutes ago from sevastopol. they told me there are a couple of things working in their favor this morning. they don't have the high winds we were seeing yesterday. you can see the embers coming up as the trees are burning, but they are not whipping around. they are not continuing to blow and start new fires and spread the fire. the other thing they have working in their favor is that the fire is moving downhill. fire spreads much more quickly when going uphill beca

let's go to video from that scene in west oak lane.rs there gathering evidence. police were called out shortly after 11:30 p.m. to the 6400 block of north 20th street. police found a 43-year-old man lying on the front steps of a home stabbed in the back with a large kitchen knife. he was unresponsive. the knife still in his back. he was pronounced dead at the scene. there were several people at that home at the time. investigators were speaking with them to see if they know the victim or anything about what happened. police say the victim did not live at that home but that he was from the neighborhood. >> not sure if he was stabbed at this location or he was stabbed somewhere else and ran to this particular location. that we're not certain. it's still an investigation in progress. >> reporter: and police did locate some surveillance cameras on a nearby school so police are hoping that they can find some footage from those cameras that can help in this case. we're live at police headquarters, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> t
