[laughter] but the challenge i face is, i am trying to, i intended to serve for another six years. i do not want to be at war with the president in the white house. i'm trying to build a relationship with a new leadership team at the department of justice. and so, i'm trying to calibrate. i woke up that morning, that was back when i followed the president on twitter. and i saw that and my reaction was that is simply outrageous! the president of the united states without any factual basis, has just accused the department of justice and the fbi of serious federal felonies. that is outrageous! and maybe in retrospect i should have spoken out that day. i thought the department of justice leadership should have spoken out right away and i push them very hard because i knew that testimony was coming up. to authorize me to say that at the hearing and they grant me that permission. but in retrospect, it is har

know when i should get good and when i should get bad. sometimes i'll say, wow, that's going to be a great story and i'll get killed. >> how serious should we take this threat from the president to yank the press credentials of reporters? >> the way he's talking, it's undemocratic. this is the way dictators operate, not how democratic leaders operate. but it is just talk. it is just the president venting, bloviating, complaining about the coverage he doesn't like. we do see that frequently from him. it's important to recognize there's no actual plan in place to do this. he's musing about this, he's done that privately, and now publicly. outlet or partisan blog, they'll still give you credentials for the day. he sends signals by his media attacks and they use the president's rhetoric to condemn and hurt the press all around the world. it's still troubling. >> the difference between fake news and negative news is very different. the president doesn't like negative news and he brand all of that, even if it's honest and fair, as fake. >> and i

talk about vietnam i don't believe we should be there. i think we're poking our nose someplace we shouldn't. we're having enough trouble at home. >> the battle ground is being brought home. the reserve officer training corps. has units on most campuses. this is the one at the university of colorado, but r.o.t.c. is under increasing fire. the military, as an institution, is under growing attack. the gap is widest within the younger generation. six out of ten college students are, our survey shows, would fundamentally reform the military or do away with it. only three of ten non-college youth agree. one-third of college students say patriotism is different in their scheme of values. nearly twice as many young non-college people say it is. and the focus of dissent against the military, especially on the campuses is draft resistance. a clear majority of students approve resisting the draft if they feel for a war that is morally wrong. >> i will support and defend. >> seven out of ten non-college kids believe draft resistance is basically wrong
