maureen kelly kron4 news ( robin ) in the south bay... the san jose airport is planning to expand the use of facial recognition cameras. the airport is the first on the west coast to use the cameras. kron 4's charles clifford has the details. well, here at mineta san jose international airport, the airport began using facial biotmetrics back in june and the airport says the technology has already made a difference.since june passengers arriving at the international terminal in san jose have been required to look into a special biometric facial recognition camera. the camera captures a digital image of the person and compares it to a database to quickly identify the passenger. the airport claims that the use of the camera has reduced the average wait time at international arrivals by several minutes.airport officials say that in recent years, the number of passengers arriving at the international terminal has more than doubled from 199,900 in 2015 to 438,800 in 2017. they are hoping the new facial recognition cameras along with a

kron4's maureen kelly caught some of the offenders in action.his is is the practice bart is trying to stop.people squeezing thru or jumping the gates in order to avoid paying their fare share. the transit agency has rolled out different solutions to try to address this costly problem.....including raising the fencing inside some stations.....and putting alarms and warning signs on the emergency exits. this year they also rolled out teams of fare inspectors to issue citations....and now the are launching a study to see what their options are to put in new...tougher to beat gates. while fare cheats costs the transit agency an estimated 25 million a year....bart hopes that by cracking down on them will also lower the crime rate. it is true that those who have disregard for lower-level crime that are are also prone to commit other prep crimes in our systemthe preception of bart being unsafe is one of the reasons bart believes is behind the drop of the numbers riders at night and on weekends in the past three years ....those fewer riders translated t
