area, especially in the north bay and the east bay hills. mt. st. helena reaching 72-mile-per-hour gusts and mt. diablo is 62. we'll continue to monditor thos wind gusts and talk about the wildfire danger coming up. mike, now you have a note for bay bridge commuters. >> not just about the backup at the toll plaza which you would expect. once you get across here and this is the standard backup and across the span itself moving smoothly we have the off-ramp here at fremont street that may be opened up to all traffic. all lanes opened as they reopened fremont street at transit center. i want to double check and let you know what to expect. we don't know the slowing we've seen creeping up as the commute built over the last few weeks. fremont street is open at the transit center but the transit center is not yet open. bob redell continues to follow that in the city. we follow more buildup, south 680 could be cord and pleasant hill. hilltop drive west 80 my be affected by plywood that was reported in lanes. chp hasn't given us an update. no lanes

also in the east bay, mt. diablo wind gusts over 60 miles per hour through the p d get a look at still a red flag warning that continues this morning, that goes on until noon, and that's when the winds will start to calm down. we have very low humidity and we'll talk about that in just a second but the red flag warning means that any small spark or anything could spread rapidly if we get any flames going in the hills, especially, so all of these areas shaded in red are under a very critical time as we head through the next few hours. as we get a look at our wind speeds, once again, they will be calming down as we go throughout the day and most of the bay area by this time tomorrow morning will have some very light winds. our humidity, look at this, it is just unreal to see some of these numbers. humidity dropping down this morning to about 5% in ukiah, and clear lake at about 6%,ut there in some of the hills, so if you get a tree down on a power line or something like that, that's why we have seen pg&e turn of

the winds are light for the south bay, but in the east bay hills and the north bay mountains we're begin to see winds kicking upwards of 20-plus miles per hour. as the dry offshore winds begin to creep in, we'll see temperatures go up in toward the start of your work week, but as you head out today, 80 degrees in san jose, 82 for concord. we'll keep the 70s in san francisco, at 72 degrees. i want to talk about the extreme fire danger, because this is the reason for this microclimate weather alert. there is a red flag warning, initially a fire watch that was upgraded to a red flag warning not just for northern california but check out southern california as well. southern california will be dealing with gusty, strong, santa ana winds. traveling through the southern california area or you have family in that area, you may also want to pay attention to that as well as we head in towards tonight. now that local gusty wind is what's going to really kick up the fire concern. pair that up with low humidity levels especially overnight into tonight and into early tomorrow monday, that could be a

this is the southeast end of the pittsburg bay point parking lot. you can see they have a red cross vehicle with people handing out blankets, coffee and people inside are sleeping in their cars, last night and through the overnight hours, emergency responders knocked on doors and they let them know they had to leave pause of the possibility and risk of some sort of pipeline explosion, people say they didn't ask any questions, they got their stuff together, they got in their cars, they got the families together and they came out here and most of them have been sleeping in the cars and hanging out in the bart station parking lot, some of them as early as 9:30, 10:00 last night. there has been 4,000 people who had to evacuate. here's how one person told us, how she found out and how the night was for her. >> i was in a panic attack, this is my family and visiting, we were about to sleep and we got this alert. so, yeah. >>> and again, here's a map of the evacuation zone, people who live in north broadway to the west, and willow pass road to the south an

bay...al fire also assisted with the park fire in santa clara county. the fire started on monterey road and coyote creek golf drive, north of morgan hill and burned about 25 acres. it broke out just before 1:00 yesterday afternoon. at one point... a portion of highway 101 was shutdown because of the smoke. no body was injured. firefighters are still tyring to figure out how thisire started.
