i worry about the future of the senate. it has always been the body that the rules of the senate bring you together. it is very seldom that one party has 60 votes. the filibuster rules requires, and that is what i like about the senate. i served 12 years in the house. the senate requires and pushes you together. lately, there have been so many things that have drug us apart. i do not know how we get back. the incentives are all the other way. there is no currency for a bipartisanship. if you act bipartisan, it shows up in your opponent's campaign ads. we have to come to a point where failure to compromise and a failure to reach across the aisle i'm a particularly in the senate, is punished at the ballot box rather than rewarded. i don't know how we get there, but we need to. [applause] >> you had to name the three top causes of this, what would they be? what can you do to fix it, and what we do after jeff flake is gone? sen. coons: miss him a lot. top causes, we don't live together. we travel act and forth to our home states
