this unhealthy air impacting our air travel. this live camera at sfo where the haze is causing delays. you can hardly see the runway here. couple this with the east coast storm and thanksgiving right around the corner, a lot of headaches in terms of air travel. we're also discovering right here at home there's anquality war room of sorts. the bay area air quality management district in san francisco is actively tracking these difficult conditions. they're using satellite imagery, ground level monitors showing the meteorologists which areas are seeing the thickest smoke. san pablo and contra costa county experienced the worst so far. the question is what can you do? the district said there are four things. >> first, you want to not burn any wood. if you have a fireplace, you want to come to a halt with that. second, you want to carpool. third, i would say take public transportation, and three or four, rather, stay indoors. to prevent any health effects from the smoke. >> stay indoors. that's tough for families with kids. everyone

unhealthy to very unhealthy air. please be safe and do what you can to limit your outdoor exposure. 50s to 30s this morning. >>> we have an air quality advisory this morning. we stay smoky through the weekend and rain chances later next week. i want to talk about the reason why that smoke is just stuck here. these are the exit routes for the smoke from the butte county "camp fire" with those light offshore winds, northeast winds bringing that smoke to the bay area. santa clara and tri-valley it's trapped. as it tries to move out into the pacific through the golden gate gap there, it gets blocked by the sea breeze so just off the coast there is a bit of a sea breeze there and that acts to block the smoke from coming into the pacific. so that means it is trapped here in the bay area. our smoke forecast really shows the red is that smoke and still continuing to be stuck here in our area. so that smoky pattern sticks around not just today but through the weekend likely into the start of next week. that low that we though

it's all about the air quality. once the air clears out, i think we'll be a lot happier. unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality is likely tomorrow. so many events have canceled, check with whatever event you're thinking of going to in the next couple days. you may be thinking i'm just going to get out of here. where is the air better? i picked three spots within one day's drive, lake tahoe. the air is beautiful and crisp and clear in lake tahoe right now. aqi of 21. santa barbara, an air quality index of 39 and ashland, oregon, where they have the shakespeare festival, the aqi66. some options, this pattern when will keep this smoke over the bay area is likely stuck for four to five days. we'll have a hazy night tonight with chilly temperatures. we stay smoky tomorrow. the highs tomorrow will be right around 70 degrees, 68 in concord, 70 in san jose, 67 in san francisco, air quality staying bad a while likely into next week. your extended forecast, i just want to draw your attention to thanksgiving day. we've got rain in the forecast day seven on the seven-day outlook. by
