the tenants living there passed away in may of 2015. a few months, i don't know the exact date, afterwards is when the property management moved into this space. this space over here is currently being occupied to the best of our knowledge by the owner. though he is seen only infrequently. the reason to show you this picture here is i want to give a visual of how this is a very close space. so it is almost impossible to not have a sense of what's going on at this property. you can see where it says office space, unit five, every day for me to leave the building i would walk by this office space. i understand there is issues around hearsay but there is also close proximity where i would actually witness firsthand that the management was there working in addition, i would say probably throughout 2018, the owner was also there with computers, working as well as his brother. this is clearly being used as an office space for three years. i just want to get to why we were concerned. what raised red flags for us? over the last few years, as un

i'm the president of the golden gait tenants -- gate tenants association of the hotel. as you know, a fire broke out on the 22nd floor of the davgate w hotel. on behalf of all of us, i would like to thank the san francisco fire department in its response to the gate way hotel fire. the first firefightered arrived very quickly with other engines following within minutes. they arrived several ways upstairs. the quick response was really what we appreciated. the effective action saved us from what could have been a major disaster in this high-rise. it's a 22, 24, 25-story building. the fact that no one was hurt and only an elderly couple was carried out safely reflected great training and professionalism and courage of the fire department. please extend our appreciation to all members of the force. we know that the fire station 13 was the first one to respond, but others joined them and additional members, and we are so very, very thankful for their tremendous works. thank you so much. i'm not here alone. other members of the gate way tenants association are here and would

my name is jordan davis, and i currently sit at one of two tenant reps on the s.r.o. task force. you know, yesterday i got a reminder of why this body is necessary and why you must renew it. h.s.h. may affect its tenants in unprofited hotel which have some unintended consequences and i've had to loop in a lot of people and have this matter agendaized. we are right now having many discussions of issues that have often been left on the back burner and go unnoticed, including nonprofit tenants rights, women's issues, immigration issues, and we even pushed for gender neutral issues and pass through reform. in the past, we focused on sprinkler policy, and this is one of the last processes of low-income people like myself, and it's making sure we have a seat at the table. i've learned a lot about the issues. about finding a middle ground and pushing for good policies for the health, safety, empowerment and autonomy of tenants, even when there's resistance. in reality, we are often having a spirited but necessary conversation about the needs of s.r.o.s and how we can move forward. thank
