how different was writing it then writing for the journal or the times? was a bit of a world wind. i started writing for the journal as the fulbright fellow when i was 22 they hired me at 23, i got headhunted to write the book at about 27. and now i'm 31. it was a lot more isolating. i think the growth kind of speaks to that a lot of our journalists are not very good because they get sucked into the whole parties and castles and you go to yachts and there are a lot of wealthy people. that is an interesting fun part but you still have to keep your head about you but it is a lot more entertaining than just having hitler as your roommate five years. especially when you are working at home and you wake up and you have your coffee and there's a book on hitler. especially one of the reasons there are thousands of books out there about hitler and the nazis in world war ii as there should be but one of the things we wanted to do with this book was due narrative nonfiction which means it reads like a story but every quote is true if there's a detail about the weat
