and alexander vindman's testimony tomorrow should be fascinating. they start at 9:00 a.m. in the afternoon it will be tim morrison and kurt volker. restingly both tim morrison and kurt volker have also resigned their positions in the government just as the impeachment inquiry got underway. kurt volker was the u.s. envoy to ukraine. he likely tomorrow will have to clean up some of his earlier closed-door testimony that has been contradicted by multiple other witnesses including issues about his own involvement in pressing ukraine to announce these investigations if they wanted to get a white house meeting. tim mother morrison's testimony behind closed doors was described by at least one republican member of the impeachment committees as, quote, alarming. among the things we learned from morrison's testimony was that president trump and john bolton the national security adviser who was fired from his job right as the hold on ukraine military aid was released. president trump and john bolton apparently had a one-on-one meeting in the white house in which tim morrison says those two men discussed the president's reasons for not wantin

republicans are optimistic they'll get slightly friendlier witness performances next week from kurt volker and tim morrison in particular. remember, they were both on the republican witness list. folks that the republicans had asked for. and volker in particular is a really interesting figure in all of this to me. he's somebody who from the day he came in and gave his deposition, republicans said release this whole transcript. this is a guy who exonerates the president. and in his transcript, he is certainly much more diplomatic and much more careful about how he describes the president's actions. i think republicans will lean heavily into volker's view on all this, which was that he was trying to be a bridge between these policy channels and that he, an experienced ukraine hand himself, didn't see anything wrong here. you heard some republicans planting the seeds of this today asking the two witnesses today whether they thought volker was an expert, whether they thought he was somebody who they respected. you heard both of them say yes. so look to that volker testimony to be where republicans seek refuge
