but look at that rain coming down in the bay area's we take for a closer look. you can see some of those showers popping up some heavier bands now making their way into parts of the south bay they will get some downpours are really taking the better part of the day to get the rain in that direction otherwise the showers continuing across san francisco stretching into union city parts of the east bay too and then the main cold front is actually just beginning to move into the north bay where they've seen the most significant rainfall so far some of those are rain totals upwards of a half an inch of rain so far and there's plenty more to come. in fact there is some concern tonight and some of the north bay that we're looking at the possibility of some flash flooding. so some advisories have been posted in those areas and the north bay specially in and around the contained fire of the burn areas not able hold out water there's just not the root systems from up last there so certainly concern that we could see some flash flooding there. but this storm season looks li

and much of the bay area is t day. with a looktow t you have the na app you could also get a look at the radar and track well. we're going to see the rain moving into san francisco and oakland and areas to the north by 2:30 this afternoon. we see it pushing into parts of the east bay, the peninsula and into the south bay by this evening. but some of the heavier rain will still be falling in the north bay at 5:00 and that is during that evening commute. and then we see it quickly rushing to the south. after that it turns scattered and we could see the potential of thunderstorms into tomorrow. once again rain totals from three quarters of an inch to over an inch and a half. especially for the north bay. it is also going to be very windy this evening. those winds picking up at 50 to possibly 55 miles per hour. and that is not just the north bay. that ish winds will push up waves along the coast and we're up coast we'll have breakers an that could reach up to 27 feet starting tonight. and for the sierra, not a lot of snow.

we'll see mostly clear sunrise for much of the bay area. as we head towards the east bay, it's going to only be 45 degrees, a cool start to the day going into the rest of the day. really nice with low 70s by early this afternoon, high temperatures today still well above normal. think about this, we should be in the lower 60s for many areas. san jose, the normal high temperature is 63 degrees but we're up to 75 today,. 73 the high in aloe alto. san francisco could be up to 70 today and 78 degrees in santa rosa. we will have a cooldown on the way. as the cold front sweeps in it will cause winds to pick up and by wednesday we could have a high fire danger for elevations above 1,000 feet. this map highlights those areas now under a fire weather watch that will be in effect from 4:00 wednesday morning until 7:00 thursday morning. this also includes much of the inland east bay hills and the san jose foothills so we will be watching out for that as this front comes in. it's also going to be very dry unfortunately, no rain associated with this, not
