let's check the conditions at northstar. new snow, another 5 inches on top of what they already picked up this week. the base is 1.5 to 6 back feet of snow. they have almost half of the lifts up and running. i think the employment challenges are kind of a hindrance to getting more of those up as opposed to the conditions on the mountains. let's look at the totals. kirk work kirkwood is the big winner with, 7 feet of snow. all of these locations picked up at least 3.5 feet of snow, at the low end of the spectrum. there is more on the way. there is rain on the way to the bay area next week with the atmospheric river, and it will bring snow to the high sierra. this is one version of one forecast model. this is a good middle ground, a general idea of what to expect. through early on christmas morning, we are talking about another 2 to 5 feet of snow adding up in the high sierra. it will be a gradual process throughout the week, and the rain want add up all at once either. it will be gradual, coming at us in waves, beginning mond

check out what a difference a day made at northstar. paul, you are tracking more snow. >>> a lot more snow. they picked up several inches last night, into the first half of today, but they are already under a winter storm watch for the next storm. it will be upgraded to a winter storm warning within 24 hours of the storm arriving. within the blue shaded area, 1 to 4 feet of snow above 7000 feet, 3 to 6 feet of snow, which means difficult to downright impossible travel conditions in the high sierra's. keep that in mind. any time after sunset on saturday, i would not travel along u.s.-50 or i-80, because then it will start snowing and not stop for a while. let's add that up. that one to four foot ranges with the forecast models are anticipating through tuesday morning, but it will keep snowing. these are just snow lottery numbers anticipated by the forecast models, close to 8 feet of total accumulation within the next 7 days. great news for the ski resorts, but travel will be a nightmare if you are heading east on i-80 or u.s.-50. the sam
