eca that absolutely need reform because the statutory languages is archaic, it's vague, underspecified in that there are certain issues likely to arise in the statute it simply doesn't address so in terms of some of the low-hanging fruit, clarifying the requirements for safe harbor status, for example, a slate of electors is entitled the safe harbor status, if, to use the language in the statute, there's been a final determination of any disputes regarding that slate of electors by a date specified in that statute, so clarifying what does and doesn't count is a final determination. if a voters, for example, still have a lawsuit pending in federal court regarding the outcome of the presidential election in the state, does that prevent the electors in that state from having safe harbor status? if a candidate brought and lost a lawsuit trying to challenge results from a state but the deadline for taking an appeal or filing a petition hasn't run, is that sufficient to stop a slate from having safe harbor status? so clarifying what is or isn't a final determination, a very technical issue,

i don't know exactly what's being presented there, but that was in eca fitness.where, full disclosure, i presented years ago. different outfits. okay. last example of this. i've interviewed both of these folks. elizabeth -- and fred devito. they are the kind of power couple of fitness in america. and they -- the lone berke method in the 1980 and onward. the woman who brought it to us, we talked about it last week. and fred devito, he was a pe teacher, and he had a normal job, and it was secure but then his then-girlfriend, now-wife elizabeth was a dancer, and she was working at body berk, and it was at that point they allowed men on the premises in new york, later in los angeles too. he went, got a kind of side job there, and then he started getting trained, and he made this truly tough decision which he said his parents just didn't understand in some ways at the beginning of him leaving a secure teaching job to go and work in this fledgling fitness industry. and i was really taken by the way he described what he did. and he said to me -- [inaudible] the public r

i think we have identified clearly some things within the eca, the electoral count act that needs to be addressed, the ambiguities that need to be addressed. but is there more we can do? this is where we're seeking to find the common ground. i know for one, we want to make sure, if you're going to be an election worker, if you're going to be there at the polling booth, you don't feel intimidated or threatened or harassed. protections for that, what are we doing to ensure that states have the ability to provide security for their elections. so we're looking at application of the hava, the help americans vote act, which has been in place for a while now. working with the electoral commission act to determine, all right, what more can we do in terms of safeguards -- safeguards to voting, ensuring there's an appropriate chain of custody once ballots are cast. so we are sitting down i think again as members in good faith to ensure that election integrity across all 50 states moves forward in a positive way. >> what we've seen basically, the courts have overturned some of the redistricting
