brett, can you break down what we've seen so far please? >> good evening.a lot about this convoy making its way into kyiv and that is really the focus of where russian forces want to get to. what you're looking looking at here is the city center and that northwest suburbs. here's the office of the president. this area right here. it's basically downtown kyiv. and to this airbase is about 20 miles from the center of town. it is under control we believe by the russians. it has been back and forth with the ukrainians and russians. heavy battles they are. that convoy is just on the outskirts of this and making its way this way about 15 miles from the city. the issue for the russians is that there are only really two main ways to get into the city center. one is here, one is here. but they both come to a choke point. and we are told that the indians are using antitank missiles, javelins, and taking a anybody that comes in in this district to the north. that is what this convoy has really run into. a continual attack by ukrainian defense forces. but if it is 40 m

brett we have video of you on the front lines in ukraine. explain to us what is the situation on the ground. >> it's catastrophic. some of this video was taken from some other guys on the front line. it shows the reality on the ground. some men are having to push their way through heavy fire and barrage of artillery to render aid to civilians trapped by some of the heaviest fighting. they are risking their lives every day to extract civilians from the crossfire. i am moving around the country quite a bit and i'm running across americans and british fighters coming in to fight on the front lines. they are coming in by the dozens to join the territorial defense group. i want to caution others about doing this. many of these guys great americans. but at least half of those americans i see coming in to fight i see leaving a couple days later because they don't truly understand what it is on the front lines. this is real war. this is not call of duty. don't come here if you don't understand the brutality of this combat environment. many of these

hello, brett. >> good evening. take a look at what's happening in ukraine, has been happening in the past few hours and this past day. a little of expansion by the russian air attack. that is to the west here. this is the town of lusk. and there was an attack, a bombing of the airfield there for ukrainian servicemen, killed six woungded. there was an airfield taken out. and also another airfield, no one was killed here. but it was interesting to see whether it was the mig29 back and forth and whether they didn't want the airfields used but the russians struck that. also here in nipro, a big attack, this was an industrial area. and this was the fourth largest city in ukraine. a major industrial hub had not been hit before. but now seeing a lot of activity. still activity here in the south where you have an area outside of mariopole essentially under russian control. most of the activity here around kyiv in the past day or so. we were talking about the south here, and mariopole, we talked about the movement of russia

hello brett. >> brett: hello shannon a look at the map at ukraine and what we are he a seeing from russian forces essentially the same areas roughly controlled, controlled by russian forces. these black lines you see here are really areas where there's a major front where the ukrainians are building a front that they are fighting these forces daily. and each one of these lines suggests major battles that are ensuing. there are russian forces that are making their way down towards kyiv in an effort to encircle that. mariupol has taken the heaviest bombardment as where we saw that maternity and children's hospital hit as well as a number of residential buildings. russian forces have creeped out of crimea to cure son and taken control of that but have not controlled the city of odessa, the port city. and so there is incremental movement but a lot of bombardment, if that makes sense from russian forces. the evacuation routes have been a problem because they negotiated these escape roots, sees fires, to allow civilians to get out, about you we saw that that bombardment has continued in some of
