police arrested 21-year-old darius myles in connection to a shooting near campus yesterday.n savidge joins us now. what are investigators saying? >> not much, victor. we should say that darius myles was a third-year forward for the university of alabama men's basketball team. was, because the team has disassociated themselves from him because of the fact he's been charged with murder. according to authorities in tuscaloosa, around 1:45 a.m. they were called to a scene a half mile off campus, an area known as the strip. they found a young woman dead inside of a vehicle, the result of a gunshot wound. the driver says two suspects opened fire after some words were exchanged. as a result of that, the driver said he fired back. meanwhile, one of the two suspects was reportedly hit, but non-life-threatening injuries. police were able to identify the two suspects which now include darius myles and 20-year-old michael lynn davis, a 20-year-old who is also from the washington, d.c. area. as to why? here's the spokesperson with the sheriff's department. >> at this time, it appears the

that is not a hyperbole or a myles personal opinion, data shows increasingly hard-core ideological primary voters are more and more in charge in elections. which means congressional districts are becoming less and less competitive. so the candidates that are winning tend to be the ones that are more extreme, appealed to the base and we are really seeing that on the far-right. we are seeing that in the republican party and in fact, around 95% of members of congress who are incumbents get reelected. and other words, they're more likely than not to win the races without any competition. this is problematic, and again it means roughly the 10% of extremes are governing for the rest of us. the 90% of us. that is the problem and it'll take long term democracy reforms to pick. until then, you see especially on the republican side, these really fringe maga candidates winning more and more races as the years go on until we make those adjustments. >> we are seeing some of this, and the house already. they are prove this week they select subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government. her
