lincoln signed into law the yosemite grant. wh this did was it took federal land in california, gave it to the state of california, and said okay, you n keep this land but you must keep it as a natural area. you have to keep it, maintain it for the use and recreation of all men and women. you cannot change. that so we will let you have it. so it is the first time federal land was given to, in this case, a state for permanent protection as a part system. now later on, after lincoln was done, the park service, but national park system was created, and yellowstone became the very first national park. california said, we will just give the land back to the federal government, either back in the federal government made it the third national park. the yosemite valley and the mariposa grove, big trees, sequoias, redwoods, became the third national park. and i will just tell you right now, if anybody asks me of the second national park is between yellowstone and yosemite, i do not know. somebody, look that up in case somebody asks that

yosemite is in mariposa county and, according to the cdc , that county is currently saying high transmission of the virus family narrowly escaped severe damage to their home when a tornado briefly touched down over the weekend. this happened just east of the town of harold that's about 30 miles south of sacramento, christina salsameda and her daughter, adriana, we're out of the home saturday when it hit. the national weather service did confirm the small tornado touchdown east of harold for about two minutes with an 80 mile per hour peak wind there tornado narrowly missed the family's house, but it didn't some other damage. underneath there was like a whole deck that was there, and it's completely just flattened. smashed this shadow was right next to the other shed like they were right next to each other side by side. routes from structures and would that was being used to build a new barn. we're throwing all across the field despite the damage the south sea to say they are very grateful that no one was hurt. alrighty we're checking in on another weather system shows up tomorrow. here's how

yosemite national park. let's come for a closer view. this is where we get all of our water. if you go in for another close look, if you've ever taken this drive on highway 120, there is a gauge where we can measure the snow. we click on that. when you click on the number, let's go to the smaller number. that will show us for the snowpack right now. we are at 138% of average for the entire year's worth. that means we've already gotten over what we would need for an entire year's worth of snow to be at average. 138% for the entire year on average. more good news. if you look at the combination of how much water the state is storing and it's reservoir combined with how much we are storing in the snowpack , you've got to look at both of them together. that is how we manage drought. this yellow line here shows you the combination of two statewide. it's really good. even at this point , we are not where we would need to be in total for average by the time we get to april 1st. if we look at what happened last year, it was pretty much right here at average. we had a great december g
