santa clara mountains! when you get down to san jose, the santa clara valley is like a bowl. you will see in a second, this is the way the smoke is coming into the bay area. it gets down there and pulls up. so san jose was forecasted today to go moderate or nobody else was, even though everybody starting today is under the air quality advisory. if you look at concord, this has to do with the fact that there was a prescribed fire. it was a grass fire that was intentionally set for good purposes two days ago. that has been adding a little bit more smoke for you guys there. if we are high above san jose and that's what it looks like, it looks better from down on the ground, but the story is still the same. air quality is moderate. orange would be unhealthy and purple would bring back all the nightmarish memories of hazardous conditions. we are going to watch this. there is no forecast for that to happen. see where the smoke is coming from? that's where the fire is, way down on the southern corner of oregon, and look at the flow in the atmosphere! for the next few days it will wo

yeah, we're touring the santa clara valley at this time. a and we are looking out for monument peak and we're looking in the direction of the santa cruz mountains. and you can see that bank that compress a deck of low clouds. it's a shallow deck, but the fog has been pretty dense this morning. current air temperatures stand in the mid 50s across the board, except for san jose. we jump up to 59 degrees. it is currently clear in palo alto at 58 degrees. the winds are breezy east of the bay. dave clark was outside in oakland. he says yeah, stiff breeze out there right now it's up to 26 in fairfield, gusts up to 32. concord 24 mile per hour gusts winds but then you get to the peninsula, it's pretty calm. all winds are under ten miles per hour. but that's a little misleading. those winds will pick up off the ocean today and increase 10 to 20. this morning. visibility is now down to three miles in half. moon bay, again, dense fog there. low clouds across santa rosa and novato and even livermore is reporting nine mile visibility at the airport. so

in the santa clara valley, low- to mid-90s. und 103 degrees for morgan hill and gilroy. the far inland you go, the hotter it gets. temperatures in the tri-valley and delta topping around 100 to 107 degrees. this is where that excessive heat warning means exactly that. the heat is going to be excessive this afternoon. but we should back off slightly tomorrow. near 70 in the city, around 80 degrees for oakland. temperatures heat up quickly as we go inland in the north bay, low- to mid-90s for a lot of folks until you go much far north, close to 100 in windsor with temperatures in inland marin county and lake county reaching up to the 105 and 110-degree range. that is definitely hot. but even today the hottest day that we're going to see in this particular stretch of weather, we're unlikely to set any records. the forecast high for livermore is 105. the record today is 107. so we'll give it a run. other parts of the bay area likely to stay below record territory. here is the excessive heat warning. it's in effect for the entire bay
