nbc's damian trujillo joins us this evening. the multi-million dollar question here, what was the fire truck doing outside the pink poodle? >> reporter: what the report says is that there was a photographer that the fire crew had contacted to do some video shoots and photography of them. so they allegedly had told the investigator they went to the pink poodle because this photographer also worked part-time, i'm told, as a bouncer at the pink poodle. they went to retrieve the pictures there, and then when they arrived there at the pink poodle for those pictures, they told the investigators that the woman in the bikini told them -- or demanded that they take her on a ride-along, and so they did. they took her on a short ride-along, and that's why a fire engine was in front of the pink poodle. >> the firefighters on that truck that night, were they suspended? do they still work for the department? >> they're still there. nothing happened to the four -- three firefighters who were there. the fire captain was demoted from captain to

damian trujillo broke the story back in october. he joins us now with some answers. damian, what are you learning? >> reporter: well, audrey, this is a report that the city tried to keep secret from the public. but ultimately released it after a judge's order this week. we do know that during the investigation, the captain admitted that an employee at the pink poodle, a male employee, had taken pictures of the fire crew. so they were going to the pink poodle to retrieve some of those pictures if not the card containing those pictures. while there, the firefighters are telling investigators that this woman, bikini-clad woman, demanded that she be taken on a ride-along. so they conceded. they took her around the block a couple of times. then after that, they were -- the fire truck per gps data we obtained at nbc bay area, it showed it stopped at a.j.'s bikini bar down the street from there. the firefighters told investigators they don't remember why they would stop there at that bikini bar on that same night. they're still left with a lot of questions of some folks in

here is nbc bay area's damian trujillo north of tampa with the water rescue first responders are facing as a result of hurricane idalia's impact. >> we're in pasco county, about 50 minutes north of tampa bay and the rescues have continued in the city of hudson. folks were told to evacuate a couple of days ago, but a lot of them said they were going to wait it out, hoping that it wouldn't be as bad as they were reporting it to be, and it turned out a little worse. the rescue teams are here and they've gathered along u.s. route 19 in pasco county, tons of them, and they're here going out in military vehicles, in small fishing boats, and getting three or four people out at a time. i've seen moms come out, i'm told that a 1-year-old child was also rescued out here at some point. a lot of pets have also been rescued from the floodwaters here. they're expecting these waters to only rise in the next few hours or so, and so this operation will be here for some time. we did speak with several people who explained to us why they did not evacuate. >> you're one of those who waited until the last m

damian trujillo is joining us. how bad is this problem that they're dealing with right now? >> reporter: audrey, some districts have it more difficult than others. i'm here at the franklin mckinney school district. this district needs to fill vacancies for four general education teachers and ten special education teachers and staff. so the superintendent tells me, just filling one is kind of a crisis situation. he has to fill four now. what they've had to do is merge classes together, close certain classes and combine those students into one class because they just don't have the teacher power to do it. they're getting the word out. he spent all summer, the superintendent has, on his computer, on the phones, trying to recruit more teachers here. it's just the application pool is not as big and robust as they would like it to be. a starting salary just to give you an example for a fully credentialed first-year teacher here at franklin mckinley is $7 '6,000 a year. that's considered low inco especiallyere in the bay area he k the cenges he's facing. the tax bracket in these zi

. >> our team coverage with today in the bay's damian trujillo who is in the area north of tampa. we saw the water rescues happening in your live reports yesterday, and early this morning you are in the sunshine and now it's raining once again. what is happening? >> reporter: yeah, we just got hit by a rain cloud. we get them occasionally here, it's hot and humid and then the rain clouds hit. people are starting to dry out and then it rains. this is what we are seeing up and down this street here in hudson beach. this car was abandoned. it got stuck in the water, and it's not functioning now, so they need a tow truck to come and pick it up. up ahead, you see folks returning home after being evacuated yesterday. just beyond them is another truck that was also abandoned here on this roadway. a lot of folks tried to get out, and there's nowhere to park on the street so they tried to drive out as the floodwaters were rising but they couldn't, the cars were too low to the ground and they got stuck in the floodwaters. here's some of the video we shot yesterday. again, passco county sher

we get more from damian trujillo who is live outside of tampa this morning. you're already feeling this? >> reporter: yeah, laura and marcus, we're in pasco county, about 50 minutes north of tampa, about two hours south of where the eye of the storm is scheduled to be right now. we thought it was going to hit straight into tampa, but it moved north in the last couple of days or so, and so we're still getting some of the remnants of that, some strong winds, some strong rain here and there. here officials are already making rescues. if you look over here, there's some military-style vehicles going in water that's about 5 or 6 feet high, the boats are ready to go in as well. we've witnessed three people being rescued so far. we were told that there was one child, about 1 year old, who also needed rescuing. the commander out here tells me that there are folks who are still refusing to leave, they're in their attics, they want to stay there. but they do not encourage that. folks who try to get out in their vehicles are stuck now in the middle of the roads, so now
