now the tom suozzi won out in long island. he dismissed it as either insignificant or representative of democratic weakness. how accurate? >> well, look, i mean, this was a district where if you look at suburban districts really north of the mason-dixon line, where are the terrain is probably it's difficult for democrats anywhere because their best issue, abortion probably isn't as salient given the democratic control over the state party as state government, people aren't just concerned about that. and on the other hand, you have the concentration of the migrant and crime issue in new york city that is broadcast intensely by the new york city media. and yet democrats won again, and they one in a way that was very reminiscent of what we saw in 2022 and the elections of 2023, where tom suozzi self said that joe biden was underwater in the district, and yet, as we saw in those earlier elections, a substantial slice of voters who are dissatisfied with biden's still were unwilling to vote for republicans. and i do think that suozz

suozzi, but that can also backfire on a campaign as well. you know, the pilip campaign has sought to tie suozzi to joe biden, who is also seemingly unpopular in this district. it's really up to the voters and we're going to find out. >> it's hard to forget, grace, george santos. he doesn't want us to forget him i think after the mayorkas thing. he tweeted miss me yet or something along those lines. are there lessons you think both parties have learned since his expulsion from congress? >> good question. i think you know it's a little early to know. i think both parties want to sort of say they have learned the lessons. and that there's been more scrutiny of candidates going forward. the, joe cairo as i mentioned, has sort of the said they did a full sweep of mazi pilip when they were deciding who to nominate. special elections are unusual in that the county parties have a lot more say in who goes as opposed to a full primary. clearly, they are very invested in her and feel confident in that. the degree to which voters feel like they can trus

also, the spread suozzi he, we were hearing early in the night that there was confidence in the suozzi camps. so i think that was really shocking, that he wants so handily she she came out and conceded fairly early, and then he came out and made his speech look suozzi is a longtime centrist and during his speech to his, to his voters he talked about that >> we addressed the issues and we found a way to bind our divisions. so now we have to carry the message of this campaign to the united states congress and across our entire country, either get on board or get out of the way >> and that was very much the way he ran his campaign. and what he said last night, you'll look, there were even a couple of protesters there protesting his stand on israelis very, very pro israel and from what he shut them down by saying, look, this is america. i love america and just how, how everybody can have a voice shut it all down and people cheered for him. and he just rolled with it. and that's the sort of thing that he says he wants to bring back to congress because this will be now his fourth time repres
