it's on northbound 880 approaching the alameda. all lanes shut down, so avoid that stretch if you can. northbound 280 is an alternate, or you can get off at bascom and then get back on at the alameda. other freeways looking good there in the south bay. and then the other major problem is for traffic heading from the cordelia junction towards benicia. it is actually a fatal crash southbound 680 before paris road. as you make your way to the benicia bridge, here's a live shot. we're going to try to get that on for you. so only one lane open traffic is slow approaching that scene. if you want to avoid that stretch, you can take 80 instead. once you get past that, though, 680 is looking good as you make your way through walnut creek. so these are the couple accidents that will keep you posted on this morning. amanda. >> all right, frances, we'll continue to check in with you. thank you. starting today, thousands of p-g-and-e's customers across northern california could lose power. it all stems from a planned public safety power shut of

he died in 2021 after a struggle with three alameda police officers. tomorrow, a judge could decide whether to throw the case out against those officers charged in his death. >> officers james fisher, cameron leahy and eric mckinley have each been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the in-custody death of mario gonzalez during a struggle near otis drive and park street. the officer's lawyers say the district attorney's office filed the charges at the last minute, and in doing so, filed the wrong documents. they're going to ask a judge tomorrow to throw out the case on the grounds that prosecutors missed the three year statute of limitations. now, the da's office insists there was no technical error, arguing the paperwork they did file a notice to appear instead of an arrest warrant should suffice. ktvu legal analyst michael cardoza says the da should have filed charges weeks ahead of the deadline. >> and that's why i say the big sin is waiting until the last minute for the statute of limitations to run. and most attorneys know, both in the civil

dozens of community members showed up for a hearing at this oakland courthouse to protest as three alameda police officers made their case to a judge that the involuntary manslaughter charges they're facing for the 2021 death of mario gonzalez should be dismissed. if he dismisses it, then in our minds, it's done. and these officers can, as they always should have been able to put it behind them. all three men are out of custody and were in court, but the judge would not allow us to show them family and supporters of gonzalez filled the courthouse. mario gonzalez say his name. mario gonzalez died in police custody in 2021. he lost consciousness during his arrest as the three officers pinned him to the ground. the previous alameda county district attorney cleared the officers, eric mckinley, james fisher and cameron leahy of any wrongdoing, but current da pamela price took the case back up this year and filed charges of involuntary manslaughter. i think that the da absolutely botched the statute of limitations, which is sacred. so i think that they've done irreparable harm here. an attorney
