rock, arkansas. we love our soul music. we love gospel music. we love blues. and we love james brown because he's the hardest working man in show business. so his song, say loud i'm black and i'm proud resonated with me because that growing up, our group began in the south little rock, arkansas. and during that time, you know, it was a black pride movement all around the country. and i wanted my organization to kind of say the same thing, to say it loud about literature and you founded this in 1997, 1997, you know, after, you know, spinning 13 years in southern california, working in dallas based industry, i went back to little rock, arkansas, to just visit family. you know, hang out and end up staying or more used. and i thought and that community was looking for literary to do with young people. and because of my time in southern california, hanging out in bookstores, literary events, i thought, hey, why don't i try to do something about my birthplace where i was born? why the focus on communities? you know, we variously pushed around the country to expose young people to literature, literature that promotes pride, self-identity, you know, that sort of thing. so in s

there are stories such as this in within our industry that you know, rock and roll music was created by women, by african-americans, by black people. and because of society at the time in the 40s and 50s they were marginalized and we still see that today. but one thing about the spirit of rock and roll is that we're changing that things are lifting up and these people are being recognized for all their contributions specifically women and bipoc artists and i think it's a challenge and for the world that's a challenge for the rock and roll hall of fame. but we're doing it. we're honoring all of these people because they deserve to be honored and rock and roll music isn't just one thing. it's a spirit and that isn't just for white men who played guitar. it's for black women and even latin artist and it's the more, the more we move ahead in this industry. >> i think you're going to see the diversity of how we're honoring and making sure that all these voices are heard. certainly hope so. i mean, courtney love called out the rock and roll hall of fame last year sure in pointing out, the single digit percentage of women in induc
