chp saying the four teenagers were traveling on shore road in gilroy. their car veered into oncoming traffic, hitting another car. three of those students died. a fourth was rushed to the hospital along with the driver of the other car. the names of those students have not been released, but the great grandmother of one of those students says her family is in shock. we're all broken hearted. brokenhearted. he was going to graduate this this senior year. this year he's going to graduate. the cause of that crash is still under investigation. happening today, mill valley school leaders will face some difficult questions as the district tries to balance its budget. the district recently announced a deficit of more than $7 million, according to the marin ij. one idea now on the table includes cutting the city's universal transitional kindergarten, which trustees say is underfunded. opponents plan to attend tonight's trustees meeting, which takes place at mill valley middle school. no final decisions are expected until march. we continue to follow the latest

the chp arrested oakland man for killing his wife in february of 2023.en police responded. should the edwards avenue off-ramp of 5.80, in oakland where they found the wife or name lucky sum mccowan. she had been shot and she died at the scene and the chp identified her husband and the fan. you'll mcallen as the primary suspect. they've had 2 years now of investigating. and now the alameda county da has filed charges against him. he was arrested on january 2nd. >> well, another bay area police department now considering using drones. santa rosa police are thinking about using them as part of their first responder program to help fight crime and respond natural disasters. they say these drones will have cameras and thermal imaging that can access flooded areas are collapsed, buildings even before first responders get there. police say this will be a lot less expensive than using a helicopter or other kind of vehicles. there's going to be a community meeting to talk about their plans for these drones on des january 22nd. it'll be out of the utilities field

the chp says the driver tried to run away but was taken into custody. suspect was booked on multiple charges related to vehicle theft, evading and resisting arrest. well, the sonoma county sheriff's office says a helicopter crew played a critical role in the arrest of a man on a motorcycle following a highway pursuit sunday in santa rosa. deputies say a motorcycle with no license plates was traveling at speeds of more than 100mph before the rider was taken into custody. the sheriff's office says helicopter crews can track the suspects from above, allowing ground units to follow at a safer distance. we now know the identity of the pregnant woman who was killed in a car crash in gilroy over the holidays. 29 year old rachel marie gonzalez gallegos was killed at the intersection of leavesley road and new avenue on new year's day. police say gallegos was with her husband and young son when they were hit by a driver, who has since been arrested on suspicion of dui. the chp says gallegos was riding in a 2021 chevy suv when the vehicle was hit head on. this was

the chp says the driver of that other car was also injured and taken to a hospital. oakland firefighters say they're already seeing the consequences of the city's decision to close fire stations due to budget issues. an early morning house fire destroyed a home in the oakland hills, but firefighters at the closest station say it took three times as long to arrive. station 28, which is closer, recently closed, and now oakland residents are concerned with the potential of even more closures. also in oakland tonight, a town hall to discuss whether the police department should change its pursuit policy. it is something that governor newsom wants the city to address. and at tonight's meeting, the public had the chance to weigh in. ktvu is betty yu live tonight in the newsroom. and, betty, some heated emotions coming from certain residents. >> that's right. mike, many oakland residents and business owners tonight were visibly upset because they feel that the police department's pursuit policy is just too strict and it contributes to a rise in crime. this comes after govern

ali rasmus is live now with how workers from bart, the chp and other emergency responders. ali teamed up to get train service back. >> yeah, and it was restored by about 730 this morning. but this was a situation that began long before bart even opened and started service this morning. 3:45 a.m. is when this crash happened. the chp says two people driving too fast on eastbound highway four bailey road, lost control of their vehicle. their suv ended up smashing into and toppling over a concrete barrier through a chain link fence and landing on both directions of the bart tracks near the pittsburg bay point station. the chp says the man, a man and woman in the suv, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. they were not wearing seat belts. the man was ejected from the vehicle and died. the extent of the woman's injuries isn't known, but she was rushed to the hospital and, according to the chp, was conscious and able to communicate with emergency responders. now, initially, bart representatives were worried the crash may have damaged the tracks. luckily, it did not, but do
