laura: yes.dministration and sources close to the administration i've talked to expect legal challenges. they did not think these would go without legal challenges. they feel as though they could potentially get in front of friendly judges, including that conservative dominant supreme court. one other action that could very well end up being challenged is whether or not the president decides to invoke the alien enemies act. he said yesterday in his address that he would. so far, it appears as though he hasn't. with that action, lawyers and constitutional scholars are concerned he may very well use powers under the alien enemies act to not just target undocumented migrants, but to also target migrants here who are here lawfully, and he could use it to deport and detain them. there are a lot of unknowns. we don't know how many troops could be sent to the border, or when they could be sent to the border. the administration has not provided those specifics yet. amna: president trump mentioned there c

laura: right.rities did say in the last few hours that they are not sure if that man and woman were involved or connected to the suspect. there's a lot we do not know, and again, based on the information we have so far, how likely is it that the suspect was inspired or directly linked to isis? prof. hoffman: it is difficult to say. it is clear that he was going through some personal crisis. he had financial problems, for example, he was recently divorced, a recent convert to a religion, for example, all of these things may have played into his mind to do something daring, dramatic, and violent that would all of a sudden catapult him into infinite notoriety but notoriety nonetheless. what we know from the recruitment and radicalization of individuals is that members of terrorist organizations play on individuals' personal weaknesses, personal traumas, and try to a get them to engage in acts of violence that under normal circumstances that might have never contemplated. laura: are there similarities

amna: let's turn to laura at the white house.t has already been a busy few hours since president trump took office. we have seen a flurry of executive orders. breakdown what we've seen and what we will see. laura: the new white house announced 10 executive orders focused on the border and immigration. some of those key orders include the declaration of a national emergency at the border that gives trump the ability to deploy armed forces and national guard, additional forces. another executive action ends asylum and immediately to ports arrivals -- deports arrivals. and one that would attempt to end birthright citizenship. those are some of the main ones. he's also reinstating the remain in mexico policy from his first term which requires asylum-seekers to wait out there cases in mexico. he's also going to suspend refugee resettlement for at least four months. geoff: how legally feasible are these executive orders? laura: president trump has brought ability to declare a national emergency at the border. he used to those powers to

laura: no.federal judge today plans to issue a restraining order against the funding freeze. this was due to a lawsuit brought by attorneys general over a number of states. judge mcconnell said the memo was hugely ambiguous and it is a distinction without a difference. the white house is facing two restraining orders from two judges in two different lawsuits that are temporarily stopping the funding freeze. essentially the heart of the matter is that memo, whether in effect or rescind it does not change the way judges are viewing the lawsuits. geoff: bottom line, what does this mean for people concerned about programs? laura: it has done little to ease confusion and fear. white house official said meals on wheels, a program that delivers food to seniors and some disabled people would not be affected. meals on wheels said that is not how they are approaching this. they said they are still flying completely blind. while all of this is happening federal workers are also facing a lot of confusion be
