but in the spirit of matt, let me jump in with you. what should do you think the new year's resolutions for democrats now being relegated to the minorities in congress? what should their new year's resolution be? work together with republicans or work to be the line of defense against donald trump? >> i think they have to do both, actually. i mean, look, every new president gets a honeymoon. this president will, to the american people, always feel fairly satisfied with their choice for a while. i mean, joe biden was in the high 50s, i think for the first six months or so. and so there will be a moment where trump has the wind at his back and, you know, he's the fresh new face, amazingly enough. and he'll have the opportunity to do some things. and there are some things that he could do that i think democrats like me and others would find constructive. there's plenty of problems with our government, and if he can identify the right ones and fix them, then more power to him. but i also think democrats need to be prepared to fight back wh

correspondent matt finn is in altadena tonight. good evening, matt. >> matt: hi, bret.show you how minute-by-minute things are happening here. a short whiling a we were doing an interview not far from where i'm standing. authorities came and asked us to step back because they believe some type of artillery. his neighborhood already felt like a war zone and now artillery was discovered. >> we just don't know. right? >> just talking to me a second ago. and they moved us because they found live artillery rounds in amongst the fire they have to take care of. again, it is like living in a war zone. you see all of this around us. mat mat all day long altadena swarming with sheriff's deputies, police and search and rescue teams. we're seeing properties blocked off with police tape which can indicate human remains have been found. at least 18 people are still missing here in altadena alone. teams marking lots with pools and basements as well so people don't fall through debris. 3600 properties searched here so far. now, sheriff deputies tell us they are patrolling for looters.
