redwood city has now joined other city councils, endorsing a measure that would allow the removal of san mateo county's embattled sheriff. all six council members voted to support measure a during their meeting last night. the vote came after council members heard comments from the public, including one former employee of the san mateo county sheriff's office. >> corpus's misconduct is more than a leadership leadership failure. it poses a serious financial risk to san mateo county taxpayers. her actions could lead to millions in lawsuits draining public resources that should be used to improve public safety. >> last year, a scathing report accused sheriff christina corpus of abuse of power, creating a toxic work environment and retaliation. san mateo county voters will decide in a special election, march 4th, whether to give county supervisors the power to remove the sheriff. currently, the only way to remove the san mateo county sheriff is through a recall. new at noon a new report shows students in the u.s. are still struggling with covid learning loss. the report from the educatio

look at the heavy rain from redwood city across the bay, all the way into the fremont and newark areathe tri-valley. that nasty five 8680 corridor is pretty sloppy right now. and then we head into the north bay, where novato has plentiful rain showers. this is a powerful system. it's big. it's textbook perfect. look how tightly coiled up it is. and then the frontal boundary streams all the way back to the hawaiian islands. so that's tapping into that subtropical moisture. it's an atmospheric river. so here we go. overnight, 2:00 in the morning, you're going to hear those raindrops on the rooftops. you're going to hear the wind blowing as well. so you wake up at seven, 8:00 in the morning or you hit the road, then pretty much dry as far as precipitation is concerned. but the roadways are a mess. then at high noon again, here comes another line of heavy showers, and then at 4:00 in the afternoon, and then at 8:00 in the evening, and then hit miss scattered showers in the overnight hours until you wake up and hit the road again on friday morning. smattering of showers until about 4:00. i

reporting in redwood city.james torres, ktvu, fox two news. >> one woman who says she was tricked into leaving her home by a parole agent and arrested by immigration agents, is living in fear and seeking asylum here in the united states. the woman from el salvador was staying at a facility supporting formerly incarcerated women in montebello, east of los angeles. she had served 17.5 years in state prison for a second degree murder conviction back in 2005. she was taken into custody after someone claiming to be a parole agent asked her to come outside to sign a document. once outside, she was arrested by ice. now the woman is transgender and facing deportation back to el salvador. a deeply religious country where transgender people often face violence and discrimination. >> after you were detained, what did they tell you? >> they told me that i was getting deported, and i said, why are you going to deport me? you can't deport me. i'm going to get tortured in my country. >> i am so saddened by ice coming and taki
