sanjay is joining us live right now.now, sanjay, you've had your eyes on this the whole whole time. it's been five years. where do things stand right now in 2025? >> well, you know, i think, wolf, for a lot of people, they're still a component of post-traumatic stress, almost. if you look at the images that have become sort of lasting images from the pandemic, paramedics in those early days rushing to people's homes to try and provide care. people being reunited after a few months of not being able to see each other, grandparents and grandkids, for example, and then just all that social distancing that, you know, became a part of controlling the pandemic for some time. that's what a lot of people remember. i think, you know, time is a bit warped. wolf, i think for some people it feels like a year ago. for other people, it feels like a decade ago. some people have post-traumatic stress. other people think this is way in the past. but just just to give you an idea of where things are now, if you look overall at the world,

sanjay gupta, about covid 19. sanjay, what did our viewers want to know the most? >> wolf. >> we got. >> a. >> lot of questions five years later about covid and a lot of questions specifically about long covid, something that a lot of people still struggling with. wolf, this question came from candy in oregon, who asks, what are the stats for people who have breathing problems long after having had covid 19? so first of all, long, covid or what was initially called long haulers. we have a better idea of what this is. these are symptoms that seem to persist at least three months. generally speaking, after that initial infection. but for a lot of people, the symptoms persist a lot longer. people may be struggling with it still today. and about 30% of the population had long covid. so those are the numbers. and it can be all sorts of different things. fatigue and brain fog and dizziness, taste and smell issues. that's a big one. and sleep problems as well, but also breathing problems. about 40% of people with long covid seem to have persistent breathing problems. it s

sanjay gupta, is back in the house with us. sanjay, we got a lot of questions about long covid. here is candy from oregon. and she says, what are the statistics for people who have breathing problems long after having covid 19? >> yeah, this was the most common question. and i got to tell you, just on a personal note, i get dozens of emails from people still every day about their long covid symptoms. so so sort of strictly speaking, long covid is defined as something where you have symptoms. >> that are. >> persisting at least three months after your infection. some say six months, but at least three months after the infection. and if you look at the data overall in the country, about 30% of people who had covid had long covid, so they got symptoms that appeared and they did not go away, at least for several months, tended to be more affected in people who had a very severe case of covid and people who had underlying conditions. so there were risk factors for this. but take a look at sort of the things that long covid can sort of cause, you know, you think about brain fog, fatig

sanjay, you've had eyes on this the whole time.and i cannot believe that it has been five years, because to me, it feels like it kind of just happened in some ways and in other ways. it's like decades ago. >> yeah. >> i know time is very much warped. >> i think for most people, that was one of the things that a lot of people experienced during the pandemic. and i think, you know, it's interesting when you reflect five years from now, there are people who are still still very traumatized by this. i think health care workers in particular, this is something that still comes up all the time when i'm in the hospital. and there's obviously a significant chunk of the population that is just moved on. and there's people sort of in between. but the images, you know, from, from, you know, the last several years are something that people have had a hard time getting out of their heads. paramedics rushing to homes to try and take care of people, you know, with masks on, grandmothers and grand and kids, you know, meeting for the first time aft

sanjay gupta. i mean, you've been to west texas. you've been to the epicenter of this outbreak.hat do you make of what kennedy is saying? >> i mean, you know, in some ways it's more conciliatory about vaccines than he's been in the past. he's actually saying that they can prevent infections, but then he kind of still muddies the water. you know, and this is. >> he points out, it's a personal choice, which, of course, it is a. personal choice being. >> forced to. but he says there's dozens of kids within this community that have been vaccine injured, which would defy all trends that we have seen with regard to mmr vaccines in terms of vaccine injury. it can happen, but but it's a pretty rare thing. i when i was there in west texas a couple of weeks ago, there were about 68 cases between texas and and new mexico. now it's 258. so they're getting close to actually getting more numbers than all of last year, for example, over there. so we're going to sort of see where this goes. but i met with the department of the state health department director, i met with pediatricians on the gr

let's put the question to sanjay mauli, partner at north zone. sanjay, great to have you with us.ery keen to dive into what's been happening in private markets. and let me, you know, open with the what what's been happening in the ipo world. because at the start of the year, we spoke to bankers, we spoke to private equity managers who said 2025 is going to be a blockbuster year for ipos. so far, it hasn't been the case. why is that? >> yeah. look, i mean, i think some of it is sort of a fundamental shift in equity markets. i would say in the last decade or so there's a there's been a massive proliferation, as you know, as you were reading out of private markets, i think there's this almost quasi public, late stage private market that's developed in the last decade, which is, you know, which can write large checks is fairly permanent in the form of. crossover and evergreen funds and provides liquidity to your point. so, you know, there's a lot of secondary sales or employees, founders and even early stage investors are getting exits through these sort of late stage capital rounds.
