we still have a pretty dangerous situation out here over southeastern massachusetts over southeastern massachusetts. over mrich over plymouth county a severe thunderstorm warning in effect through 5:00 this morning. after that, i expect it will be extended down to the cape and islands. here is boston, 37 degrees. and you can see we are getting a little breather. showers have lightened up. we have lightning now passing out. it is still going to be pretty breezy. we have gusts at about 37 miles per hour. sounds a lot better than the 69-mile-per-hour gusts that we have reported last hour. beverly up to salisbury and gloucester. heavier rain and it is going possible to a little tough to navigate, but these locations are getting in on the worse of it and we have downpours from scituate down to hanson, middleborough, marion and new and with this we have gust he winds at or over 60 to 70 miles per hour. as we have seen with these storms, we have those strong gusts over worcester. now drying out. we will have a lot of lingering clouds this morning. still gusting up around 25 miles per hour. b

this is southeastern massachusetts event. even in boston maybe a brief commute. but there are some deeper blues in here. the snow may come down briefly for a period at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour during the middle part of the morning rush and by 10 a.m., snow is going to be tapering off from west to east lingering longest until about midday early afternoon the out aer cape may get mixing going on with temperatures running around 35 degrees on the cape. so it's going to be wet consistency the snow. and there's a little uncertainty here. this coating to two inches with the coating north and west of boston. there may be an inch or two in the city and greatest risk of picking up two to as many as 5 inches from south shore and bristol and cape cod canal a coating to 2 inches on outer cape where we get some of the mixing and that change over. weekend looks great. low 40s on saturday mid-40s and brighter on sunday and the next storm comes in for the start of the next week. clouds thicken up and we are talking about a threat at least for some snow by the time we get

so in southeastern massachusetts initially, this could be a little bit of rain. by 3:00 this afternoon a couple of rain and snow showers breaking out. but by 5:00 p.m. notice how everything is filling in rapidly. darker blues starting to show up along and north of the pike by 5:00 p.m. that is indicating that potential for some heavier snow squalls and those will be with us from about 8:00 this evening all the way up until 11:00 p.m. as this moves west to east along the coastline. initially at the coast rain ending as a little bit of snow. that will keep the amounts under an inch in most areas. from the pike on north ward up to a couple of inches of snow are possible. again the timing with this is critical. so that is for your evening commute. the morning commute not so fun either. olessa: good morning. we've been watch inning problem since about 4:30 this morning. 128 northbound in burlington right by route 3 an accident involving a wrong-way driver. once again this happened at about 4:30. at this point only the right lane is squeezing through. those delays nort

the heavy rain in southeastern massachusetts. right now, you can see it is getting organized south of long island, and we have a steadier rain pushing through a good portion of the area. it really is light rain in most areas, darker greens and yellows showing up with pockets of moderate downpour. it looks like lighter rain is falling, 77 degrees, but wow is it humid. a very muggy start. rain tapers off. the skies they brighten up more to the west of town when we jump up into the 80's. he stay in the 70's, rain continuing. notice as we get toward lunchtime, the rain tapers off, continuing with heavy downpours right through the afternoon and crosses the south coast, where the rain may exceed half an inch. any rain is welcome; we will get a nice start to the weekend, high-pressure nosing in, sun and clouds. , by sunday we are watching this area of low pressure which will keep more showers around as we go into sunday and monday. you can see temperatures a little cooler, with more clouds then showers, especially in the first half, but

so we have got that front that is going to be closest to southeastern massachusetts help southeastern massachusetts helping to generate those showers through 1:00 this afternoon. as it pulls away, we get things to brighten up temporarily this afternoon, but now this whole system looks like it is going to swing a lot closer as we start looking at the overnight in your friday forecast, which is why we had to significantly bump up the expected snow tomorrow. notice by 7:00 tonight, we have rain showers beginning to work its way back in from the south, around 7 a.m., the potential of snow from southern new hampshire into central massachusetts. it is going to be more intense the closer to the coast you get and the further near southeastern massachusetts you get. although initial legal during the morning commute, we still have rain across the cape. it changes to snow, a heavy wet snow expected there and at 1:00, we will see things begin to lighten up in the boston area out toward norwood not coming to an end until closer to 4 or 5:00. the potential for 1 to 3 for the outer cape. the 3 to 6
