abby: it is a vexing question. what we basically see in financial services is that there may be a large number of women coming in at the bottom end of that pyramid, and we'll have to do better not just in financial services, but other industries in enhancing that pipeline. for example, we see that women are well represented in the number of industries, but as you move up say to the vp level or the md level, that is where we see flattening out. by the way, while we can point to problems in the u.s., it is worth in most other countries, so they are looking to us, interestingly, to get things better. we tend to think about these professional white-collar jobs. the real problem for many women in 2020, this is not been a good year for women who are really on the front line, those who are heavily represented in some of this virus afflicted sectors, including restaurants and accommodation, but also in state and local governments, where women tend to be overrepresented by numbers and positions like teachers and social work

abby, let me start with you. they said president biden will fight to pass this $15 minimum wage increase but as several noted, angus king and others voted against adding this to the relief bill. kyrsten sinema said it should be separate from the relief bill. what do you take from all of this? >> i think it's pretty clear that the biden administration doesn't want this bill held up because of the minimum wage. maybe the only -- if you looked at one signal with that, you would look at senator chris coons' vote against this amendment. chris co ons is a very close ally of this administration's, and i think it's very symbolic that this is not the venue that they want to deal with this issue. now how they do that going forward, i think, is another subject. there's a lot of reason to believe that democrats, moderate democrats, and even some republicans, are open to a lower threshold. and maybe, i think, that is where you will see the biden administration putting the elbow grease behind getting a minimum wage increase fo

i want to bring in abby phillip. abby, what do you make of president biden's comments? >> well, i think he is trying to do two things at once. he's trying to get ahold of the narrative here that republicans are trying to use for political reasons to attack him for what is going on the border. and there are i think good reasons for the biden administration to say not so fast. this is in part a result of the trump administration creating a backlog of immigrants who have been waiting in mexico to come over. but at the same time, what he said there, don't come has taken two weeks virtually for this administration to get to that place. a couple of weeks ago, the now department of homeland security secretary said quite the opposite. he said we're not saying don't come. we're saying don't come right now. i think this is an administration that is struggling to settle on where they need to be both in terms of messaging and in terms of policy to not only deal with the long term issues but also to deal with this immediate problem, which seems to be escalating by the day as more an

. >> sara, stay with us and bring in the national security correspondent jim sciutto and abby phillip. federal investigators have data showing communication between members of congress and the rioters, at least some, around the january 6th attack. what questions does that raise? >> it raises the question of whether they had help. it's still a question as evan said but it raises the question whether they have help on the inside and i've been told that the u.s. attorney is investigating this. the other thing we are learning is that they're taking ongoing threats so seriously that recommendations to secure the building going forward involves some enormous steps here. i'm told that the capitol security review is now complete. this was led by the retired army general russell honore, draft recommendations have been circulated to members on relevant committees and brief others going forward and you see how seriously they take the threat going forward. here's some of the things to recommend. more than 1,000, 1,000 additional u.s. capitol police officers not just here in washington, d.c. but a

. >> joining me now is cnn senior political correspondent abby phillip who anchors "inside politics" on sundaying. how significant is this measure that we are expecting will be passed? how significant is this for president biden? >> brianna, a massive piece of legislation. the first major priority for the biden administration and a massive bill. that was by design. the biden administration wanted to make sure this bill was commiserate with the size of the problem. look at it in comparison to the other major relief bill, it's the second largest relief bill passed in this country's history. take a look where we were in 2009 when joe biden was the vice president of the united states. the american recovery of reinvestment act is about half the size of this current bill. so that just really highlights the degree to which this is a piece of legislation that was designed to be large, designed to be sweeping in scope, designed to touch virtually after part of the economy in part because the biden administration wanted no regrets it was too small to meet the needs of the american people. >> t

. >> there's essentially the question, abby, of whether the governor can still be effective when he'syou know, questions and allegations, every day. >> yeah. absolutely. i mean, i think the avalanche of -- of -- of calls for him to resign, from national democrats, is really -- it's unlike anything that we've seen, really, in recent years. and it goes to show that many of them believe that this is a political problem, they would rather not have. that he ought to just step aside, and make room for someone else. but if you're cuomo, he -- he is citing his poll numbers in the state. which, to be -- to be clear, are going down, but are still relatively high. many new yorkers want him to stay exactly where he is. he is surrounding himself with political allies. whether it be, you know, women officials in the state or african-american officials in the state. so, i think he is trying to kind of keep it within new york. and -- and surround himself with as much as he can even while national democrats, largely abandoned him. >> and do we know what the governor's plan for his official schedule? >
