alyssa, to abby philip point, he went as far as he's willing to go on trump. he went further today than he has in the past when he announced. and tonight, but he wouldn't answer dana's questions about a pardon or a number of other things. >> right, pence had some strong moments tonight. he had a line where he said that was a direct shot at trump. he said i know the difference between a genius and a war criminal, taking him on for refusing to call putin a war criminal. he talked about a meeting with vladimir putin. i was there when he did, indirectly concerning and what an -- election appearance. but the problem is trump looms large over the entire night. it was hard to look at what a future looking, you know, mike pence presents he would look like, because it kept coming back to, rightly so, january 6th, pardoning the former president. this is what he's gonna have to deal with on the campaign trail. i don't know if i've strong advice on how to avoid it, because the two are so inextricably tied. and i think for voters, the key thing he needs to do is draw a cle
