he has some learning disabilities like dyslexia and adhd.. and so this is a class that caters to students with challenges like that. he tells me that the teacher pinches students.. not just him.. when they don't know an answer she thinks he should know. i spoke with the son as well. he's 16. he says.. the teacher calls students up casually and it's at her desk that she pinches the student for various reasons. let's take a listen to her describing nicole bauer/concerned parentwhat he says happened was that the teachers were pinching him in his arm to get to work to do his work, jamming her knuckle in his ribcage. he says that hurts the most and will hurt the whole day. and he just kept it in, kept it in, because he has low self esteem and he felt like he deserved it for not paying attention or not working fast enough.. and it's just shocking that he didn't say anything sooner and that i couldn't protect him (grant)(grant) another big story we're following tonight... a vigil is being held for a teenager who drowned in his school's swimming pool

for me personally, i have a son who has pretty severe adhd, and his transition to kindergarten was really difficult. what that meant and what happens to a lot of kids who have behavioral issues are labels of being aggressive or a difficult child. you know, without the social worker to help him to provide that social and emotional and behavioral support, he wouldn't be where he is today. kindergarten, first grade, it's night and day. the social worker was able to work with him and provide support he needed. it's not just my son. it's all the kids that have these difficulties, that are going through transitions that, are going through trauma. the social worker is key in providing that extra behavioral and emotional support in order to make them feel safe in school and thrive. so i urge you to restore our social worker. thanks.
