there is cold air close by. the most part, around the entire metro area, we are above freezing. anything down now is priinarily in the form of rain. we have colder air aloft. you see the dew points down in the 20s. tells you that the colder air just above us is very cold. and it's enough to bring down some freezing rain. maybe even some sleet. cold temperatures are not very far away. detroit is at 30. that is the northern tip of that storm. lifted up into the upper peninsula of michigan, up toward wisconsin. but the southern portion is moving in across the milder air. and that's down around atlanta. you see 42 degrees. and we're right in between the two. that is why the national weather service issued the winter weather advisory. we're going to see that lower portion set up shop offshore. develop into a low-pressure system that starts to move up to the northeast. much like the last one did that really pounded them. but we're not getting that. we're getting the mild air. the advisory in place until 10:00. because

the colder air is back to the west and midwest. this is indicated with the next system that will come through here tomorrow evening into saturday. it's part of this same pattern that we've been dealing with every so many days. every 3 days or so we get a quick moving clipper system, generating in canada moving into the region and moving out of here before and after or temperatures are warming up. today we melted down everything that was on the roadways from yesterday. still a lot of coverage on the grass and the bushes. it's going to warm up again today. tomorrow we get back up into the 50s. with that mild air in place this system comes through again tomorrow night into saturday. again, we should repeat the same drill of slick roads in the over night hours, a bit of a dusting and little coating in the over night hours friday into saturday and then it moves out of here again. the difference this time is that saturday and sunday we stay in the cold range. tonight sunset at 5:44. a little more sunlight and warmer temperatures. tonight

there is cooler air upstream as you can see and milder air to the south. this is where a lot of rain is gathering. some of that rain will reach our region here on wednesday afternoon. there may be just enough cold air to the north of us that we could see an end to the period of snow before it all moves out. right now we're watching this batch of rain move off to the southeast. could bring us a little bit of precipitation here in the form of rain and then maybe a rain- snow mix. the question is, just how cold it's going to be here late in the day on wednesday. that low moving offshore, model showing some of that. the really cold air up to the north. another cold front coming through this weekend. then it's going to get cold again after that. it will be quite cold again for a few days early next week. i'm talking arctic air once again. winds gusting at 25 knots. a small craft advisory through the afternoon. the bay temperature around 38. overnight tonight, clear to partly cloudy. breezy down to 37 by morning. tomorrow we'll see some sun, a bit of a breeze fr
