congressional correspondent aishah hosni has more from washington. >> good morning. republicans say look, issuing a subpoena is a last resort measure. if they're being honest will it, they think they are close to doing it. >> we're at that point where if they are not going to cooperate we'll have to use every tool at our disposal and issue those subpoenas. >> it has been clear for quite some time that hunter biden is not going to cooperate with the committee's demands for documents related to his overseas business dealings. his attorney fired back at the request earlier this month saying it lacks a legitimate legislative purpose. he has offered to meet with the committee in person but congressman from texas believes it is a delay tactic used by lawyers. it comes as the u.s. attorney for delaware who has been investigating hunter biden declined to comment to fox yesterday at a press conference when we asked about the status of that investigation. >> would you be willing to give us an update on the hunter biden investigation? >> no as to the last. >> this is just the b

aishah hosni is watching this hearing for us today. she is live on capitol hill. good morning. good to see you. >> good morning to you, bill and dana. that's right. this is the latest hearing on the job that secretary mayokas has done. maybe not done on the southern border. this particular hearing of the homeland security committee will feature testimony from a sheriff, a mother whose two sons died of fentanyl poisoning, two sons, and a fed up hospital ceo in a border town who says they're overwhelmed with migrants. the hearing is underway and as you mentioned, lawmakers are back on the hill with a wealth of knowledge, bill, after conducting field hearings for the past two weeks including that judiciary committee hearing last week that pretty much every house democrat decided to skip. republicans, though, aren't affected by that. >> if folks don't want to travel to the border we'll bring the border to them. the only way this gets solved is if it's a bipartisan manner. the sooner republicans and democrats come together to solve it, the better it will be for america. >> talking a

a lot of hooting, hollering, aishah hasnie on the fallout and president's sparse words on china periodter: neil, it is interesting right now china is the topic everyone is talking about in washington, certainly here on capitol hill. just this morning house chairs and ranking members got an intelligence briefing on the chinese spy balloon. last night the president did not mention the ccp until about an hour into his speech. even then, neil, that section was 200 words about the 7,000 word speech the president actually spoke. republicans, democrats, equally divided whether that was good enough. >> totally inadequate. he said almost nothing, no specific talk or acknowledgement of the balloon espionage int. >> he should have started with the domestic. could have mentioned china much earlier. >> how can he talk tough and show weakness at the same time? >> i believe the president handled china appropriately and in good timing. >> reporter: military officials are facing some scrutiny from both democrats and republicans who want to find out why this thing was allowed to enter into us air space.

aishah hasnie what we're learning from this intelligence briefing from some senators who were happy toit and others who were not. ashiah. >> reporter: neil that would be the big headline out of the senate intelligence briefing. senator kennedy saying remnants are somehow lost because of the tough terrain and inclemment weather out there. that is what he told reporters moments ago. it is very troubling. it has not been confirmed by the administration just yet. we reached out to the white house contacts but we know that general mark milley has said that the weather has been tough. it has slowed the process down but he does anticipate eventually getting to those remnants of those objects. he does think that he will, they will get there. the other thing coming out of this briefing, neil, is that both democrats and republicans are walking out of this really feeling like they didn't learn a whole lot, that couldn't be shared with the american people. they're calling on both sides of the aisle are calling on the administration and the president to really speak directly to the american people.
